MAURICE - Overview

The BEST Japanese racehorse EVER to stand at stud outside of Japan, Maurice is now the sire of seven Group 1 winners including 3-time Australian Classic winner Hitotsu.

Maurice has sired 35 Stakes Winner including 7 Group 1 winners.  

After missing the 2020 Southern Hemisphere season because he was stranded in Japan due to the COVID pandemic, Maurice returned to serve the best and largest books of his Australian career at service fees of $44,000 (2021), $82,500 (2022), $82,500 (2023), $55,000 (2024) & $55,000 in 2025.

The yearlings sold in 2025 were from the first of those two premium crops. They were exceptionally well-received in the marketplace, averaging $250,000 at Inglis Easter & Magic Millions Gold Coast, and in 2025, he posted his first 7-figure price of $1.4 million for the Shoals filly. 

His current yearling crop of the 2026 sales season produced 102 Live Foals.

These were conceived off his service fee of $82,500 in 2023.

The filly we purchased Lot 393 is as nice a horse as you would see by the sire at this sale complex.

We’ve had a lot of success buying horses bred at Arrowfield. 

We know "they raise the highest quality racehorses off this superb Hunter Valley property.”

Whilst their stats out of the Classic for achieving stakes horses is 300% higher than their peers.

"Our filly, she’s a really athletic, easy, fluid mover. The day we saw her at the sale, she was one of those horses we could honestly say we would like to take home.  All our team really liked her. We rated her an 7+ as a physical against her peers at this sale."

Considering her excellent conformation and the strength and depth of the female family, add in her pedigree genetics scoring A+++ this filly was secured at a price representing to the team at Dynamic a significant discount to our market appraisal of her true commercial value. 

We had intended to make her a target before the sale commenced however we were also very keen on Lot 1 which Arrowfield were offering. We had only wanted to take one home from the Classic and keep our powder dry for a few prime lots at the upcoming Inglis Premier and to buy a big filly at the Inglis Easter Sale. 

We got off to a flyer buying LOT 1 by DUNDEEL x FAIROUZ for $80,000. Technically - our job was DONE! 

Lot 393 was an equal selection but was just catalogued after Lot 1. So we considered we were FULL. 

The Team at ARROWFIELD told us prior to LOT 393 being offered - that they had an $80,000 reserve on the filly. That was more than fair but we had purchased LOT 1 so were full. 

The filly was sent through the salering and was passed-in at $70,000 with a Reserve of $80,000.

30 minutes later we took advantage of a "fuel stop" at Arrowfield's hospitality marquee and over a cup of coffee the boys started to have a chat about various other horses we race together and then we started speaking about Lot 393.

We had done our due diligence and the filly was sound and right of wind and limb. Clean Scope (Grade 1) and Low Risk X-Rays. 

Having purchased Lot 1 of the sale from Arrowfield, we are convinced that filly we had met our objective, and we were satisfied that we could walk away from the Classic with a nice horse and further ammunition to wait for the Melbourne Premier and then the Easter sale. 

We were advised by the Team at Arrowfield that they were going to place an $80,000 reserve on the filly in the ring.

So already with Lot 1 we were going to let Lot 393 find another home.

The filly presented well in the salering but was passed in at $70,000 on an $80,000 reserve.

Both parties are convinced we have a high-quality filly to aim at the 3yo classic races.

Again, we have purchased a filly with good residual and the propensity to become a quality equine athlete and that could see her commercial value skyrocket.

Arrowfield Stud statistics speak for themselves but at the Inglis Classic they punch well above their peers.

It’s been a smart move to buy from Arrowfield at the 2021-24 Inglis Classic Yearling Sales. The fact is Arrowfield’s ratio of Stakes Winners to Lots Offered through those past four Sales, is three times better than the rest of the sale.

Our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts inspected the yearling prior to purchase and believed this youngster to be a quality individual and a chance of being a successful equine athlete with no visual clinical issues likely to prevent it from reaching its racing potential.

Before purchase, the 42 X-Rays deposited in the sale ground X-Ray Repository facility were examined. There were no abnormal findings noted.

The horse was approved by Dr. Roberts for Dynamic Syndications to purchase in the salering.

After purchase, an endoscopic test on the horse's airway was performed and the result was the horse had normal function.

Also a blood test was performed and revealed no abnormal findings.

Considering this superb genetic pedigree, the commercial value of the sire, excellent athletic conformation and overall size, strength and scope, we rated this yearling as an "MUST HAVE" purchase.

Dean Watt evaluates each yearling that passes its Veterinary Inspection as to the maximum Commercial Value after taking in such factors as:

A specific formula is applied to each of these variables and a figure is determined.

The price we are prepared to bid up to in a bidding war in the Salering.

We set a strict ceiling price on all the horses that pass Veterinarian Inspection and write that figure on the Catalogue Page of each lot that passes inspection to ensure that we do not make bidding errors during the auction.

How was the Share Price Calculated? 

Fair Market Value:

Considering this superb genetic pedigree, the commercial value of the sire, excellent athletic conformation and overall size, strength and scope, we rated this yearling as an "MUST HAVE" purchase.

Dean Watt as a licensed Commercial Agent and an erstwhile longstanding Member of the Bloodstock Agents Federation of Australia (FBAA).

Dean is approved to offer Market Appraisals as to the Commercial Valuation of all thoroughbreds.

Dean evaluates each yearling that passes its Veterinary Inspection as to the maximum Commercial Value after taking in such factors as:

* The Individual's Conformation
* Sales of Progeny with Similar Commercial Pedigrees by the Sire
* The Sire’s Service Fee both current and at date of Conception
* Sales of other progeny from the 1st & 2nd Dams in pedigree
   based upon the Service Fee value of the sire of that mating.
* Any Sale recorded of the Dam herself.
* Racetrack Appraisal of the immediate family (Siblings / Dam).
* Working horses in the immediate family (Likelihood of the family
   improving commercially by producing a Stakes Winner
   in the near future)
* Historical Sale Average of the Actual Sale being Conducted.
* Current Economic & Political environment.

A specific formula is applied to each variable and a figure is determined.
That is our Ceiling Price.

The price we are prepared to bid up to in a bidding war in the Salering.

The maximum price we set at which we will withdraw from the heat of battle.

We set a strict ceiling price on all the horses that pass Veterinarian Inspection and write that figure on the Catalogue Page of each lot that passes inspection to ensure that we do not make bidding errors during the auction.

Having completed all our Due Diligence reviews based upon Pedigree, Conformation, Veterinary Acceptance and Market Appraisal, we are always prepared to bid up to our limit to secure what we considered is an outstanding individual.

Once we purchase any horse a share price is determined.

The Share Price for each promotion includes:

- Fall Of Hammer Sale Price
- Dynamic Syndications Margin on Promotion is 12.5% on the Fall Of Hammer
   Sale Price (*one-off)
- Insurance - 4 Policies at the Fully Syndicated Value commencing at Fall Of Hammer

- Entry Fees Paid to BOBS and BOBS Extra Scheme (*one-off)
- Entry Fees Paid for Inglis Race Series $5,500 = Paid (*one-off)
- Veterinary Expenses incurred at the sale: Physical Inspections,
   X-rays, Endoscopic Evaluation & Blood Screening Tests; pro-rata
   across all horses purchased Paid (*one-off)
- Transport from the Yearling Sale to our Agistment Farm
   in NSW Paid (*one-off)

All Horse Husbandry costs to 31 JULY 26 which will include:
- Breaking-in Fee = Paid
- 2 x Sessions in work with Pre-Trainer = Paid
- Agistment = Paid
- Various: Transport, Standard Veterinary, Farrier, Dentist costs to 31 JULY 26
- Statutory Registration Fees with Racing NSW to register the horse (*one-off)
- Miscellaneous holding costs, etc., etc., etc.

Then ……..  Add in the Government’s 10% GST on the Share Sale Price = Paid (*one-off)

Full Transparency: 

A detailed schedule of every cost incurred in the establishment of the Share Price from Fall of Hammer to 31 JULY 26 is included as an annexure to the Product Disclosure Statement for each promotion.

Ongoing Costs:

From 1 August 26: Ongoing costs - we advise owners to budget an average of $13.50 per day per 5% Share over 12 months ($4,925 per annum / $410 per month) which we estimate should cover most / all cost.

All accounts are sent monthly in arrears directly to each owner and are due and payable within 30 days.

All prizemoney won is paid directly by the Racing Authority in Each State to the individual owners bank account; details supplied by the owner at registration of the horse.

5% SHARES are $6,485 inc GST and ALL COSTS to 31/7/26

*2.5% SHARES are $3,242.50 inc GST (*standard conditions apply)
