This horse passed Dr. Tim Roberts Veterinary inspection and also passed X-Ray inspection and Endoscopic inspection.

He was considered  Dr. Tim Roberts and Dean Watt as an outstanding colt and was placed in the top colts at the sale by the sire in both looks and HIGH CLASS pedigree rating score. He was considered "A SUPERB COLT" and we wanted him.

It’s easy to rattle off the exciting quotes about this individual. Simply he’s stunning.

Look for yourself !     It’s easy to see why (even for an untrained eye !) the quality this individual exhibits.

Q) Why did we buy him ?   

Pedigree: Before the sale: When researching which lots to inspect prior to the sales we look for certain genetic factors that increase the chance of the yearling being a superior athlete. This pedigree had certain ancestor duplications which we are seeking, to give what we consider a balanced blend of speed and endurance. This yearling represented that and was rated in our BEST IN THE SALE range.

Conformation: An excellent looking individual with very good conformation. Athletic, stands over good ground; has a good length of reign, good angulations to pasterns and shoulders. This yearling has good width of jaw, a deep girth and strong hindquarter, is a terrific walking individual, very purposeful and strong and tracks truly. Importantly this yearling has a very good overstep.

Veterinarian: Our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts inspected the yearling prior to purchase and believed this youngster to be a quality individual and an outstanding chance. Before purchase, 42 X-Rays were examined with no abnormal findings noted. After purchase an endoscopic test on the horse's airway was performed and found to have normal function. 

Fair Market Value: Considering this superior genetic pedigree, the commercial value of the family, excellent athletic conformation and overall strength, we rated the this yearling as an "A+++" purchase. We set a strict ceiling price on the horse and were quite prepared to bid up to our limit to secure what we considered was an outstanding individual.

I valued the colt at $200,000 + (plus 1 bid up to $210,000) however under our ASIC Licence, syndicators are limited to promotions of values less than $250,000. To achieve this we cannot purchase yearlings beyond a budget of $160,000 because costs and GST take the price to this limit. We did not consider the horse would be sold for that amount. We bid on him in the ring at $100,000 , $120,000 and again at $140,000. When the bidding stalled at $140,000 we were expecting the horse would possibly be sold. However he was passed-in. We did not know the reserve at that time. We spoke to Gerru Harvey later on and advise we were still there at $140,000 however he said his Reserve was $150,000 and he would not sell the colt for any less.  We believed that was a $50,000 discount on true market value. We then negotiated with the Vendor to buy the horse which we did at the Reserve Price of $150,000 + GST and Gerry Harvey purchased 30% back into this colt. 

To purchase this horse for just $150,000 + GST = $165,000 I believe we secured a quality individual at close to a 25% discount and this represented exceptional value.

Given the intensity of his pedigree, it is not surprising to see that ENCOSTA DE LAGO as the most dominant son of (FAIRY KING > NORTHERN DANCER) at stud is enjoying a successful cross to SIR TRISTRAM > SIR IVOR line mares.

Whichever sets of statistical data you choose to accept for information flow, it remains constant – Simply, on pedigree this is an exceptionally good mating with a significantly increased opportunity to produced an above average racehorse.  

Since we have matched the pedigree to his excellent conformation and athleticism, we are convinced this colt represents a wonderful equine investment opportunity in a quality thoroughbred.

Whilst there can never be any guarantees in thoroughbred breeding and this colt would be no exception to that fact, the reality is that we would always rather take advantage of sets of statistics that are weighted heavily in our favour than to purchase horses bred to be only average in the first instance and then have to pray for a miracle.

ABOUT CHRIS WALLER:

In April 2000, Chris Waller moved from NZ to Rosehill with 4 horses. Since that time which is just a tick over 10 years Chris Waller has won over 465 races in Australia including 325 Metropolitan races.

He finished runner up by just 4 wins in the 2009/10 Sydney Premiership.

Chris now has 100 horses in work at Rosehill.

Amongst these victories are more than : 40 Stakes Wins including

7 Group 1 wins

11 Group 2 wins

9 Group 3 wins

13 Listed wins

At 35 he has spent his life developing his skills as one of Sydney’s most talented young horseman.

Chris’ background in racing is sound. He worked for 7 years as foreman and then later as assistant trainer to legendary Kiwi trainer Paddy Busuttin. He worked and travelled with Group 1 winners like Castletown, Plume, Red Chiffon. Mrs Selleck and Coconut Ice.

Chris started training in 1997 and met with instant success.

Before coming to Australia with his team of just 4 horses Chris had already trained over 100 winners in his own right in New Zealand many at Black type Level.

His method of training is apparent in his words: “ I believe every horse has individual needs which a trainer can only understand if he takes a hands on approach. Horses in my stable have a programme and work schedule that is designed for them alone and prepared by myself.”

The industry has taken notice of Chris Waller over the past few seasons and Dynamic Syndications believes Chris is one of the few rising stars in the Sydney training ranks.

Chris has a close working relationship with veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts whom is also Dynamic Syndications contracted veterinarian.

Tim has been singing the praises of this astute young horseman and believes Chris offers an excellent balance to Dynamic Syndications team. Tim is confident that Chris Waller will be an asset to Dynamic Syndications and we agree.

Horses also have access to a state of the art swimming pool. As well as a large wash-bay area and 10 berth state-of-the-art walking machine.

Chris Walller Racing has also acquired a horse treadmill which just boosts the service that they provide for clients horses.

The stables themselves are very large and spacious and feature a purpose built feed room and exceptionally designed tack room for gear and equipment.

As Chris Waller Racing pay attention to detail with all their horses and prepare them as individuals, they are benefited by Jump-outs every Tuesday morning and Barrier Trials every fortnight.

VETERINARY REPORT

“Our Due Diligence Is Your Quality Assurance”

This yearling passed a complex physical veterinary inspection by our contracted veterinarian

Dr. TIM ROBERTS.

 

Dr Roberts has been working closely with Dean Watt as Dean’s contracted veterinarian at yearling sales and stable work for longer than 10 years. Both Tim and Dean have an excellent working relationship which has resulted in the high rate of success on the racetrack.

Tim has been an instrumental factor in Dean’s success.

X-RAYS being inspected in the X-Ray Repository at the Sales

All yearlings that Dean identifies as possible purchases MUST pass a detailed physical examination by Dr Roberts. If a yearling passes this examination then Dr Roberts and his equine practice partner Dr Brett Warren inspect a full set of 42 x-rays. If the yearling passes this inspection and the vets concur that there were no abnormalities present on x-ray then the yearling is approved for purchase. After being purchased, each yearling is allowed to be examined at the sale by endoscope to check its windflow.

Our yearling was examined endoscopically and was found to normal in appearance and function.
