Top class sire American Pharoah has been churning out the
stakes-winners this year and he has sired
3 new stakes winners in the past 2 weeks. Hot on the heels of
TRUST OUR JOURNEY and MACKINNON, his
latest stakes winner on the weekend was progressive 4yo mare
SKYGAZE (American Pharoah x Skyscape, by Marquetry) who added to the tally when taking out the
$100,000 Belle Mahone Stakes (1 and 1/16th
1700m) at Woodbine in Canada on Sunday.
SKYGAZE winning
Placed twice previously in Group 3 races, the mare scored a well-deserved
three length victory taking her overall record to
five wins from 11 starts with prizemoney in excess of
$185,000.
Breaking from the middle gate, Skygaze shadowed the leader in second. The jockey let his mount confront the leader around the turn and in just a few bounds, Skygaze had the win.
A
$300,000 US yearling daughter of
American Pharoah she was sold through the Gainesway consignment at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2018.
Skygaze is a
half-sister to Group 2 winner Sky Cape and stakes-winner Sunny Skies, being one of
nine winners from terrific producer Skyscape.
She became the
22nd stakes-winner for American Pharoah, along with 15 Stakes placegetters.

He returns to Australia this spring standing at a fee of
$49,500.
American Pharoah has been in hot form this calendar year,
siring 14 stakes-winners since January 1st headed by his
Japanese Group 1 winner Café Pharoah.

The 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale is underway in Kentucky and setting the early pace is a filly by American Pharoah from Letgomyecho that sold for $US1.4million ($1.9 million AUD).
She is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Echo Town and Group 3 winner J Boys Echo being from good producing Group 2 winner Letgomyecho, who has left eight winners.
The champion USA based sire can't do anymore than he is achieving with just two and a half crops of racing age already having 22 Stakes Winners and 14 Stakes Placegetters.
