All Too Hard (Black Caviar's half-brother) an exciting First Crop Sire, registered his second winner and his first Australian winner of his stallion career when
The Mighty Fed raced away at Warwick Farm on Wednesday to claim the I Am Invincible @ Yarraman Park 2yo Handicap (1200m).
The Mighty Fed is the first Australian winner for Vinery Stud's All Too Hard, who is also the sire of NZ winner Lincoln Hills and stakes-placed horses All Too Huiying and Mystic Empire amongst 11 placegetters to date – with 9 of these 11 placegetters having been placed in Metropolitan Saturday class.
All Too Hard progeny include Mystic Empire - a runner-up in the Group 3 Widden Stakes and All Too Huiying 3rd in last Saturday’s Fernhill Hcp LR.
The Mighty Fed now joins Lincoln Hills who scored on debut in New Zealand last month.
Trained by David Payne at Rosehill, The Mighty Fed tracked the leaders into the straight before powering away under Blake Shinn to defeat Furlana (by Pierro) by two lengths. Godolphin filly Popular was three-quarters of a length away in third.
The Mighty Fed's only previous run was a fourth behind Condor Heroes at the same track on March 22.
“He showed us early that he was going to be a good horse," Payne said.
“His last start, he missed the break on a heavy (10) so he never really got into the race but I said to Blake today, he had improved a lot this horse.”
“I think he had a bit of stage fright first-up – babies often do it – but since then he's come on in leaps and bounds.”
“I might put him in the paddock now because I think he'll be a nice horse later on.”
A $310,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Payne Racing / Nordic Racing and Breeding. Bred by Segenhoe, he is the second winner for stakes-winning Thorn Park mare Swiss Rose, a half-sister to stakes-winner Prom Queen from the family of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Catnipped.
All Too Hard's fee this year has been reduced to $44,000, which is a bargain if his progeny follow in the footsteps of their sire, who jumped right out of the ground at three to win four Group 1 events up to 1600 metres and ran that memorable Cox Plate second place to Ocean Park.
