Dynamic Syndications 4yo mare CONSTANZIA (Pierro x Mafia Miss) recorded back-to-back WINS with a superb effort at Scone on Thursday 21/11 when leading from barrier to camera to win Race 8 the Segenhoe Stud Class 1 1400m as $3.80 favourite.
Mafia boss Don Vito Corleone (The Godfather ’72) would be proud of the achievements of our mare named after his only daughter Constanzia “Connie” Corleone in the multi award-winning film.
However, he could not be as proud as Team Dynamic are of our Loyal Ownership Team in CONSTANZIA who are now reaping the rewards of their patience through back-to-back victories and how proud we are of the job done by Dynamic Syndications Newcastle based Trainer JASON DEAMER.
It’s fair to say CONSTANZIA had been a headstrong young lady in the early stages of her career and was showing the world but delivering an atlas.
As a filly she resented the disciplined and regimented approach of city life and was not putting her best foot forward on raceday.
As a filly she started twice for 2 fifth place finishes and a lesser group of owners may have waved the white flag in surrender and moved her on or retire her to stud.
However, a change away from the hustle and bustle of the city sausage factory approach to training was considered necessary and has subsequently proved a masterstroke.
Dynamic Syndications asked terrific bloke and top horseman JASON DEAMER to train her from his Newcastle stables. With only limited boxes, Jason has a much more relaxed stable environment and his equally calm approach has seen CONSTANZIA respond.
Constanzia has now raced on 3 occasions for her new trainer and recorded a first-up 3rd of 10 over an unsuitably short 1010m on a Heavy Track (what’s a Heavy?). This was her first placing in 3 career starts.
Then she stepped out at Muswellbrook in a field of 11 over 1280m still short of her best trip and had zero luck in transit trapped wide throughout without cover and she was gutsy when fighting hard carrying 57.0kgs to record a win by 0.28 len.
It wasn’t pretty but was very effective and gave us an indication she was happy to be a racehorse.
Now she has stepped out over 1400m and reaching a trip that appears to see her more comfortable, there was a take no prisoners approach to this race at Scone and she got the job done with style.
She looked a treat in the parade and raced accordingly.
Ridden by Andrew Gibbons, the tactics were simple enough, “go to the front and improve on your position.” Andrew did that with 11 out of 10 precision and made the race a one act affair.
From barrier 7 in a field of 13, Andrew had CONSTANZIA humming early and the pair sprinted to the front to find the fence with eventual runner-up and second favourite Mo’s Glory sitting at our girth.
This pair ran a fast first sectional, spreading the field over a long margin and then Andrew asked CONSTANZIA to settle and she did so beautifully, peeling off a couple of 12 second splits.
As they approached the home turn, Andrew pushed the go button on CONSTANZIA and she zipped away with Mo’s Glory fighting hard to stay close but making no impact.
CONSTANZIA was able to run to the post without pressure to record a 0.67 len win with 0.74 len back to third.
Now fit, well and racing with zest, CONSTANZIA will step up in grade and see what level she is competitive at.
The win was made sweeter by the fact that it was a much appreciated “Birthday Gift” for her trainer Jason Deamer.
