It was
Dettori’s first win for Jason Coyle after Dynamic transferred the gelding to Jason from previous trainer Darren Smith.
Jason was delighted about his new addition to the stables, after the gelding's gritty win.
The 5yo led all-the-way and held off an almighty challenge from
Rosehill winner Reply Churlish
Whilst impressed with this win,
Coyle was confident Dettori still has more to give.
"His best form will be once he gets over 1400m to a mile, once the freshness is out of his legs. There is plenty of upside to him and a midweek [metropolitan win] isn't out of his range," Coyle said.
Saturday's first up victory came on the back of two strong trial wins – The first, defeating Joe Pride’s subsequent Gr2 winner and already 3 time Gr3 Winner
TERRAVISTA.
The second, defeating Joe Pride’s
SHE CAN SKATE - a Stakes Winner of the Cresswick Stakes and placed in the Gr3 Mumm Stakes - both at Flemington.
"Highly experienced jockey
Tim Clark had trialled him on both occasions and has a big rap for the horse," Jason said.
"He said that on both occasions,
Dettori showed that he came back well and he was enjoying being back in the stables.
"Hopefully he can move into town at some stage."
The weekend's performance saw him defeat proven Saturday class galloper,
Reply Churlish.
Reply Churlish looked destined to run over the top of Dettori in the straight but the winner was up to the task and was gutsy digging deep over the final 200m to secure the win.
The pair gaped the rest of the field with Passionflower finishing a distant third.
"It was a really awkward barrier but to Adam's credit, he took the initiative and rolled forward." Coyle said.
Jockey Adam Hyeronimus gave a glowing report stating: “That was a tough win we did all the work and still beat them in slick time.
“Nice horse but he will be better over further and especially when he can get a trail back in the field and work into the race – He was too good for them today.”
