Yet another Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained winner for the Dynamic Syndications Team - this time at Gosford on Thursday, as our
magnificent mare DINKY DI DORA (4yo Redoute's Choice x Diana Cazadora) stormed home to claim victory, assisted by a glorious ride by in-form jet pilot Adam Hyeronimus.
Race 5 was the Jack Ward Memorial Day Class 2 Handicap over 1200m. In a field dominated by on speed runners, two horses were heavily backed in the lead up to the race which saw our mare drift to a juicy 10/1 as they jumped.
Jumping professionally as Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained horses do, she went forward but was being hustled by another four runners over the first furlong. This broke the field into two divisions and being trapped wide, Adam summed up things quickly and eased out of the speed battle to sit fifth, 4 lengths back tracking the speedsters.
Approaching the 500m, Adam angled Dinky Di Dora off the heels of those feeling the pinch and as they all swung for home, our mare was full of running but still with plenty of work to do, spotting the leaders 3 lengths.
Adam waited until he had our mare balanced and then asked for an effort which was obliged by rattling off a fast last 200m to reel in the heavily backed favourite in the shadows of the post to claim the race by a long head x 3/4 length in 1:10.71 coming home win 36.01.
Dinky Di Dora took her record to 7 starts: 2 wins and 3 placings.
By champion sire REDOUTE'S CHOICE from Group 1 winning Chilean mare DIANA CAZADORA so has terrific residual value as a broodmare upon racetrack retirement.
However this is far from the owners minds as the mare was just resuming today from a spell. Certainly the future is looking bright for the mare.
This mare looks as if she would be happy at trips of 1600m and further so to win first up over 1200m was a wonderful result for our owners and
importantly to us, it was terrific to see co-owners Peter McGuire and Ray Loveridge proudly getting their photo taken in the Winner's Circle.
