Promising Dynamic Syndications 3yo filly DELIRIUM made it two (2) wins in a row this preparation and now
2 wins from 3 race starts when the exciting Exceed And Excel filly from Red Fever (by Red Ransom) set a
Class Record when taking on the older horses over the specialty 800m trip at Ipswich on Friday afternoon.
DELIRIUM won Race 1 - SAMMUT BULOW Ratings Band 0 - 60 Handicap
The Chris Munce 3yo filly was the stand out in the yard and certainly her class carried her a long way when overcoming difficulties in the run to post a slick 45.65 with a last 600m in 32.55.
Ridden by Jim Byrne, the filly jumped away quickly but the runner in barrier 1 drove forward to keep our filly wide and unable to cross. With the rail out 7 metres the fence was a big advantage however Delirium was unable to get there.
Approaching the home turn Delirium got the speed wobbles up and shifted out 4 deep and gave up a length upon straightening.
Not to be deterred, pilot Jim Byrne balanced the filly and she gave chase to wind in the leader and then at the 100m she began to draw clear to post a Half-length x Head win. Impressively Delirium gave the leader the fence position and 2.0kgs and 12 months maturity but proved too strong.
Upon returning to scale Jim Byrne reported that the track was like a rock today and that the hard ground didn’t suit our filly.
“She was stinging a bit.”
Importantly Jim relayed his opinion that
“she was Saturday class and would get beyond 1000m without an issue.”
It had been 3 weeks between her first up win and todays win and the filly being now deeper into her preparation was looking for more ground.
Delirium’s next assignment is planned to be at the
Gold Coast on Saturday 7th January. That is the main meeting in Queensland on the day and there is a 900m Class 3 event on that programme that looks ideal.
Trainer Chris Munce declared the filly would win today at Ipswich based upon her work and her forward condition and he wasn’t disappointed.
Whilst the margin was only a half-length, the time was outstanding again and to take on the seasoned older horses, as the only 3yo filly, in a Benchmark 0-60 Rating Handicap and run similar times and sectionals to her first up win was very pleasing. Especially when Jim Byrne reported that she was uncomfortable on the hard ground.
Staring at even money, she was a terrific price having been in the red in the early market and just getting to black figures as they jumped.
A big
“THANK YOU” goes to the team at the
Chris Munce stables and also to jockey Jim Byrne.
Jim and Delirium are building a nice association with the duo having paired together twice for 2 victories.
Purchased from the
Magic Millions in 2015 from
John North’s Bowness Stud, the magnificent type is an absolute speed machine and has a nice black-type pedigree behind her.
The filly is giving tremendous enjoyment to a loyal team of Dynamic Owners.
Delirium was originally with Gai Waterhouse however to Gai’s credit she advised us early on that the filly had incredible speed but we simply didn’t have these short course speed races available to us in NSW which they do have in Queensland so the decision to send the filly to Chris Munce has proven to be the right one.
Adam Watt from Dynamic Syndications was on hand with owners Dave and Karen Batchelor to welcome home Delirium to the Winner’s Circle.
Congratulations to our Dynamic Ownership Team:
