Effortless for our mare and painless to watch for our owners, the
Richard, Michael and Will Freedman trained Dynamic mare OUR FUN (4yo Dundeel x Funzero)
scored as a $1.65 favourite should, when she was
far too good for her peers in
Race 3 over 2200m at Newcastle (Beaumont) racecourse.
OUR FUN wins at Newcastle 21-12-19
OUR FUN won the SAGE PAINTING Bm64 Hcp in a Time of: 2:15.59 with a slick last 600m of 0:33.60 as she posted a widening 1 length x 4.23 lengths margin.
OUR FUN winning at Newcastle over 2200m on 21-12
Ridden beautifully to instruction with a silky
10 out of 10 ride by young Irish apprentice
Tom Sherry who claims 2.0kgs, he piloted
OUR FUN beautifully and the Dynamic Duo where never in danger.
We had determined that the race may prove a muddling run affair, with Hoof Hustler wanting to lead early whilst the trainer of the runner up Miss Fialka had notified Stewards, they wanted to be closer in the run.
OUR FUN in the pre-race parade
Our only doubts were being a mare and giving weight away to her peers as Top Weight with 59.0kgs less Tom’s 2.0kgs claim and with us stepping out to 2200m for the first time off a last start track record win over 1885m, we would like to have cover and get her to settle, because we know the motor she has, especially the last 600m.
As they jumped
OUR FUN could have led with ease by Tom took his time to work across as Hoof Hustler was scrubbed along to hold the fence, as the field past the winning post for the first time.
Then long shot Ayita surprisingly pushed up holding Miss Fialka wider on the track. As they past the post leaving the home straight, Tom had worked
OUR FUN across to sit 3rd on the fence behind the leader with the runner-up fourth on our outside, cramping in on OUR FUN as they passed by the 1600m post with Raziel making a line of 3.
Caught 3 wide, the rider of Raziel pushed forward to join the leader at the 1400m which temporarily put some pace into the race as Hoof Hustler didn’t want to give up the fence and that strung the field out over a dozen lengths down the back straight.
Then passing the 900m the tempo increased and
OUR FUN was still on the fence in fifth spot but was awkwardly placed as the long shots in front of her were in the running line and starting to yield and Tom knew he had a lap-full of horse underneath him.
The field started to bunch as they swept the home turn and at that point, Tom had been able to angle 3 off the fence behind the runner-up, but the horses in front of him to the inside were all waving the white flag, so he had nowhere to go but the gap opened at the 300m and in two strides she had room to start to lengthen out and give chase to Miss Fialka who put up a two length lead.
By the 200m mark OUR FUN had reeled in the leader despite a determined effort by Miss Fialka and a 3.0kg pull in the weights, to make a race of it as the pair quickly dropped the others.
Tom was riding with great confidence and under hands of heels over the final 75m,
the margin blew out to a widening length on the line with 4 ¼ lengths back to the others.
OUR FUN raced in the hottest part of a very hot day and the muddling race pattern didn't suit, as she had to sit and sprint as opposed to what she prefers is to go through her gears, so the run had even more merit. She will take plenty of fitness benefit from the run and she is now proving that she will appreciate 2400m as she is a real staying prospect.
Job Done by OUR FUN.
This win has taken her career to
8 Starts: 3 Wins, 2 Seconds and 1 Fourth and with two BOBS Extra bonus wins in a row has taken her earnings to $80,495.
A Magic Millions purchase from Marquee Stud, we have an opinion of
OUR FUN and timing is right for consideration to possibly head to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Stayers Cup over 2400m however she will be walking a tightrope to get a start but if she did, we are confident she would make her presence felt. Time will tell and all we can do is weigh up the options.
A big Shout Out to Will Freedman who is doing such a wonderful job with our Dynamic Horses and it was the 11th Win for the Calendar Year the Freedman boys have trained for Dynamic Syndications.
