Patience is a virtue and never has a truer statement been made than for the owners of
Dynamic Syndications 4yo mare ALWAYS FLUSHED, who
won on debut on Tuesday afternoon at Moruya for her co-trainers, the mother and son combination of
Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones from Canberra.
Always Flushed was a Magic Millions purchase from Newhaven Park Stud. She is by
MORE THAN READY from QUICK BLUSH (by Redoute’s Choice). There have been 37 foals to race bred on this exact cross for 28 Winners
(75.7%).
A beautifully conformed mare, as a 2yo we believed we had something special, showing outstanding natural ability. The future was looking very bright.
She had inherited her family’s speed. She was from
QUICK BLUSH - an outstanding 2yo filly posting 2 wins at 2, $124,563, VRC Beachside 2YO S., MVRC Bookiesonline.com.au P., 4th MRC Blue Diamond S., Gr.1, Blue Diamond Prelude (f), Gr.3, MVRC Champagne S., Gr.3.
She is also related to
Dynamic Syndications dual Gr1 Winning Sprinter ATOMIC FORCE and to
Golden Slipper Winner ENCOUNTER.
However as the racing gods would ultimately have their say, she pulled up lame after trackwork with chipped knees and arthritic changes.
Rest then rehabilitation followed and she was ready to go after 2 trials back in July 2015 but a recurrence of the knee issues followed and the mare was sent back to the paddock.
Today, some 16 months later, she went to the track for the first time and repaid her owners.
Accepting in a 930m race and jumping from barrier 5 in a field of 10, Always Flushed began well but didn’t have the same turn of foot as the leaders. Bustled along by rider Simon Miller, Always Flushed found herself in the one / one position trailing the leading division of 3 including the favourite and second favourite.
At the 400m on the point of the turn
ALWAYS FLUSHED was in fifth spot 3 lengths off the leaders.
At the 200m ALWAYS FLUSHED had angled out wide to the centre of the track but still spotting the leaders 2 lengths.
At the 100m ALWAYS FLUSHED was working home stylishly down the outside but still spotting the leader and favourite a length.
However
at the post ALWAYS FLUSHED had come so quickly that she recorded a
1 length margin and had the field spread eagled behind her.
The result posted a time a
CLASS RECORD TIME of
53.09 over the 930m trip and a last 600m at 34.02, our filly must have been low flying because she was at least 3 lengths off the leaders at the 600m and was a length in front on the post. So her last 600m would have been about 33.40 which is far too pick for this grade.
It was a great team effort to record this victory.
The patience of her owners cannot be underestimated. The horse husbandry and management by Team Dynamic and our spelling and pre-trainers Oakridge and Wild Oaks had been long and methodical.
With excellent foundation under her, we recommended to our owners that a change to the stables of Joseph / Jones would allow for a more hands-on approach and they could give her the time and caring needed.
Without a barrier trial leading into this event, we had several choices over the past few days as to where to race.
However for overall fitness, and after looking at the acceptances, we believed the 930m at Moruya would suit her better than races we had accepted for at Gundagai Saturday and Canberra Sunday.
Barbara Joseph - Trainer
Barbara Jones was exceptionally confident that the mare would run very well. Her trackwork has been first class and has been as strong as her stablemate - Saturday’s Rosehill Winner DART’S AWAY.
There is little doubt that this city class mare could win many races in that district if her knees remain sound.
The team feel that she will be at her best trip over 1200m so this event was well short of her best but she showed she could savage the line and ran right through her bridle on the line.
We take this opportunity to congratulate our wonderful group of owners who never gave up hope and gave her the time she needed and for taking our advice as to where to place the mare to be trained.
