Dynamic Syndications Swoop on Neasham and Archibald Promising 3yo SHELSTEIN

Dynamic Syndications always keep an eye out for horses we believe have plenty of upside that we can purchase and offer to our current and former owners, to keep the winners flowing and cut down the waiting time from purchase to the sport.

As per most aspects in life, it’s not just what you know but also who you know, and in our position, the relationships we have with industry participants.

Team Dynamic’s Adam Watt has a close business relationship with Rob Archibald, co-trainer with Annabel Neasham.

After a phone call confirming various aspects we needed to know, we have purchased a 3yo bay/brown gelding that we are confident based upon his race ratings data he has delivered so far, will be gracing the Winners Circle many times into the future.

On Wednesday 11 December, the Inglis Online auction proved a successful hunting ground for Dynamic Syndications when we joined forces with co-trainers Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald to purchase the beautifully bred 3yo gelding SHELSTEIN who is showing amazing opportunities to add to an already impressive career resume.

SHELSTEIN winning at Kembla first-up this prep on 26/10/24

SHELSTEIN is a lightly raced 3yo with a record of 5 starts: 1 win at Kembla and 2 placings at Rosehill and Goulburn and once 4th at Canterbury with earnings of $41,400.

He is a particularly well conformed, athletic individual and was a tremendous looking yearling as determined by his $550,000 purchase price at the Inglis Classic Sale when purchased by TFI (Tony Fung International - Aquis) / Kia Ora Stud / Annabel Neasham Racing from the draft of Berkeley Park.

SHELSTEIN was the HIGHEST PRICED YEARLING at the 2023 Classic Sale $70,000 ahead of the second highest price lot.

SHELSTEIN as a yearling topped the 2023 Inglis Classic at $550,000

SHELSTEIN has plenty of racing upside and has already proven he can perform in the metropolitan area and would be expected to continue to do so for his new ownership team.

According to the stable, they were as keen as possible to retain their horse and several of its ownership team were committed to staying in the ownership if the new buyer would be interested.

The horse was only offered for sale under its co-ownership: TFI, T Talevski, P L Ward, N Daniels, R R Crosby, Mrs P L Crosby, M J Robertson, G J P Van Amyden, P T P Leung, BLG Racing, Halatex Pty Ltd, Berkeley Park Stud & Kia Ora Stud.

No longer a stallion prospect after being gelded, so several in the ownership team were no longer interested in racing geldings, as they only race stallion prospects.

Dynamic Syndications have achieved excellent racetrack success previously with these rare opportunities.

Adam Watt from Dynamic and co-trainer Rob Archibald were chatting and hatched the plan for Dynamic Syndications to purchase SHELSTEIN up to our own imposed ceiling price, where the stable would offer opportunities to race SHELSTEIN to the remaining owners who didn’t wish to sell in the first instance and to other owners in the stable. Whilst Dynamic would offer shares to our existing and previous VIP Owners to race the horse with Annabel & Rob.

Adam was told that Annabel and Rob didn’t want to lose the horse and were keen to see whom among their friends/clients could buy him and keep SHELSTEIN in their stable.

Adam confirmed we would be interested up to a ceiling price. Having had the horse checked and confirmed as sound and right, we set our ceiling.

If bidding went above our price point, the stable would take over and keep bidding to buy the horse back.

So both the stable and Dynamic were delighted when the clock ran out holding our bid, which was well under our submitted ceiling price.

We believe we have purchased SHELSTEIN for a figure that is incredible value.

$60,000 + GST is just 10.9% of what his purchase price was as a yearling.

We know his ability is metropolitan class. He will continue to develop and mature, and he has all the money, education and time spent on him already.

Plus, if we choose, he can be at the races pre-Christmas.

SHELSTEIN is also holding a nomination for the races at Hawkesbury on Sunday in the Class 1, 1400m.

SHELSTEIN already has attractive raceform, however he gives every indication to the trainers and form students that he will be a far better racehorse with a little more time, as a late 3yo and early 4yo when he matures into his frame, and he is strong enough to race at 1400m – 1600m.

There is one thing we have learnt. He is he is not a fan of significantly rain affected ground, as he found last start at Canterbury where he got back in the ruck and didn’t want to stretch out in those very wet conditions.

Take that blemish away, his form is terrific. The best advantage for us was his low benchmark rating as a Bm58 metroc/ provincial & Bm62 country.

Not winning in town has been an advantage for his new ownership team as we can place him to advantage and secure those photos and prizemoney cheques for his new ownership team.

SHELSTEIN is from the mare SYLVIA’S MOTHER (by Snitzel). She won 7 races up to 1400m and was twice placed in 13 starts winning $455,230.

A dual Gr3 Winner and Gr3 placed, inc VRC Frances Tressady S., Gr.3, MRC Geoffrey Bellmaine S., Gr.3, VRC ATA Trainers’ Trust H., ATC Membership H., Australian Turf Club H., 3d MRC WW Cockram S., Gr.3, ATC TAB H.

She was unraced as a 2yo; and also disliked Heavy tracks. She won at 1100m (4), 1200m (2), 1400m.

She was a mare that excelled fresh in a preparation with two wins first up and won 4 from 4 second-up.

SHELSTEIN will continue to furnish and strengthen, and we strongly suspect he is set for a nice Autumn on the track.

(a) The stable wanted to keep him, (b) we wanted to buy him, (c) the genetics back him, (d) the sire is a sensation at stud, (e) the female family supports him (f) the stable is on fire: Fourth in Australia with 87 wins (Maher, Waller, Hayes), Second in NSW with 58 wins for the season, and they are sixth in the Sydney metro area as at 11 December.

The Cost of a 5% Share includes Purchase Price, GST, Vet Inspection Fee, Insurance to 1/2/25, Racing NSW Registration Fees and Dynamic Syndications Margin, etc. Plus, continuing training fees being incurred from 11 December 24.
