Black Type racing for two-year-old’s gets going this Saturday with the
Group 3 ATC Breeders Plate and Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick and the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington with the
QTIS 2YO Plate at Doomben whilst not black-type also adds plenty of interest.
Aquis Farm’s
Spieth has caused an unexpected stir at the barrier trials with three heat winners, but the acid test will arrive on race day with
Wild Botanica (Gimcrack) and
Victory Moments (Breeders Plate) set to race in Sydney, while
Acotango, who was fourth in his barrier trial, lines up at Doomben.
Also contesting the Doomben race are two sons of Raheen Stud’s
Heroic Valour in
Heroic Son and
Mishani Persuasion, as well as a youngster named
The Missionary by Aquis Farm sire in
The Mission.
Coolmore Stud’s Merchant Navy has the pro’s talking and has
Drisana (Gimcrack) and
Calico Jack (Breeders Plate) running in Sydney, the filly was very impressive winning her heat and looks ideally drawn in gate four for her debut.
Flemington will see youngsters step out by
Churchill (IRE) (Coolmore),
Impending (Darley) and
Menari (Newgate), and importantly for followers of
Newgate Farm,
Menari sadly struggles with fertility and only has 5 named 2yo’s to date, yet already he has a winner on the board when
Menari Magic was impressive in winning the $75,000 Pat O’Shea Plate at Toowoomba, whilst Gai and Adrian presented a very promising 2yo colt at the trials named
Ferrari Man who finished second in his heat.
Cavallo Rampante is the Menari filly with Ciaron Maher Racing and has set tongues wagging and the racetrack whispers suggest she is well above average and ready for her debut but taking on the boys at this time of year is normally to difficult an assignment for fillies.
