There is nothing more rewarding and pure for the soul than when a much admired racehorse that we purchased as a yearling, goes to the races for the first time and systematically dominates its rivals and scores with ease.
1 start = 1 win !

IDLE CHAT won the Neild & Co Pty Ltd Maiden Hcp over 1000m. Trained by Darren Smith and ridden perfectly by outstanding young talent Lester Grace, IDLE CHAT went on to score by 1 length over Earstheking 4yo g, (second) and another 3.5 lengths to Dolls Express 3yo g, (third) in 59.15 secs last 600m 34.72.
First Prize was $12,250 + $5,000 BOBS Bonus
IDLE CHAT'S win was Dynamic Syndications 327 win and our 39th for the current season.
Importantly, this win by IDLE CHAT was the 78th Dynamic Syndications Winner trained by Darren Smith from his stables at Newcastle.
IDLE CHAT was purchased by Dynamic Syndications at the NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sale in 2011 for $85,000 NZD from Gerry Harvey's NZ operation Westbury Stud. She's a filly by Champion Sire MORE THAN READY ex ALL THE GOSS (by QUEST FOR FAME).
At her first race, Idle Chat was given a difficult assignment when asked to take on the older males rather than just the 3yo fillies. However she took this in her stride.
Tactically we had worked out a plan to give our filly every opportunity. We asked Lester Grace to be positive for the first furlong and settle in a forward position. Anticipating the speed map would be accurate, we believed fellow first starter Miss Rihanna would also be positive and drawn inside us, would want to hold the fence, and pressure would come from outside, we wanted to hold our position and sit at the girth of Miss Rihanna and that would make whatever wanted to cross us being forced to work too hard. Then wait as long as possible before asking for the filly to extend, as she had shown us a short sharp sprint and then maintained that level.
The race panned out perfectly. Slowly away, Idle Chat quickly mustered speed and went and sat at the girth of Miss Rhianna. Earstheking was pushing forward 3 deep before easing back to take the trail behind us. Lester stayed in this position rounding the turn before the leader quickly gave up, leaving Idle Chat as a sitting target. At the 250m Earstheking challenged strongly and moved to a long head advantage at the 150m when Lester asked Idle Chat for an increased effort and she rallied and quickly, regathered the lead and went on to win under hands and heels by 1 length.
Lester returned upon Idle Chat and was full off praise for her effort. He reported that she was still quite inexperienced and will benefit significantly from the run and will keep getting better with more racing.
We also thank our race sponsors NEILD & CO Pty Ltd, because without sponsors, racing would not be nearly as viable. We discovered in the winner's room that the company manufactures and is a wholesale distributor of products used by the food industry, especially value added products for meats such as spices, marinades, etc. We thank them for their involvement with the Gosford Race Club and sponsoring of our race win.
Congratulations to our owners, trainer, jockey and all concerned for the rare feat in racing of a first start win !
