Lankan Rupee polled 145 votes to defeat
Fiorente (121), who recently and quite controversially, the later was named Victorian Horse Of The Year, in front of
Lankan Rupee.
MICK PRICE
Trainer Mick Price said:
"To have prepared an Australian Racehorse of the Year is something I will hold dear for the rest of my life. As a horse trainer, it's the pinnacle of what you can achieve."
"I'm an optimist at heart. When you get out of bed every morning, you hope that one day a horse like this will come along," Mick said.
"I’ve been training 22 years and Mr Yasseen (owner of Lankan Rupee) has been with me for 20, so it makes this award that bit more special.”
Lankan Rupee was a clear winner of the
Champion Sprinter title (178) ahead of Buffering (81).
