A stunning looking colt with pedigree to match was Lot 876 a Chestnut Colt by Boom first crop sire RUBICK from the 2yo winning Not A Single Doubt mare BALLOONS. A nice, early 26th August foal with size and strength, there appears every reason this colt will be a 2yo runner.
Rubick was a brilliantly quick 2yo himself and we were keen to buy a colt from a 2yo speed mare. Despite being in Session 5, on type he deserved his place in the earlier sessions on looks alone.
BALLOONS was a brilliantly quick 2yo but an injury to a hind leg after a paddock accident prevented the talented filly from reaching her true heights.
Damion Flower who has raced many brilliant racehorses including Snitzel, owns Platinum Park from where Brad Widdup trains.
Damion raced both RUBICK and BALLOONS so we have a good insight into the precocious ability of both sire and dam.
There was no hesitation for our team and our vet once we inspected
Lot 876 that we wanted him to be Dynamic.
We saw him on the 4th January, our second day of inspections and it was a long 9 day wait until he rolled through the sale ring on the 14th January, but it was worth it.
Brad and Damion both saw the colt as well and were keen to buy him for the stable if we chose not to. However, we were committed to him.
We couldn’t believe our luck when he went through the ring early on the Sunday session. We valued him at $100,000 - $110,000 and thought we would have a battle on our hands to get him. However, we entered the bidding battle late and upped the offer to $50,000 with our first bid. We were thrilled when our offer wasn’t countered and the colt became Dynamic for
$50,000 + GST.
This is one of the best buys of the sale. He was a sensational sought, clean on x-ray and scope and looks like he will be an early runner.
He became the second purchase Dynamic made at the sale to head to Hawkesbury’s rising star BRAD WIDDUP.
