CHRIS WALLER may have only had a small team of four horses head to the track yesterday at Canterbury but he was spot on the mark. His expert placement and horsemanship saw him train three individual winners and another placing from these four runners.
On what was only a seven race card, it didn’t take long for WALLER to bring home his first victory of the day as TRIPLE FORTUNE got his nose down right on the line to win the 2nd race by the barest of margins. But an inch is as long as a mile in racing and it was another city winner to Chris who is more than setting the benchmark in almost all training categories this year. This season he sits on 139 overall wins overall with 113.5 coming at the metropolitan level. He is well on track to breaking through the magical “200 winners” barrier for the season and has unassailable leads in total metropolitan winners, NSW winners and Sydney winners. He has truly cemented himself as Sydney’s top trainer and Dynamic are thrilled to have horses that are in Chris’ stable. His 109.5 Sydney winners this season places him an incredible 59.5 winners ahead of his closest rival in the Sydney region.
COUP ACCLAIM was Chris’ next winner for the day when the 5yo import got the better of his rivals over 1900m metres and returned to the winner circle. The consistent son of Acclamation looked to be traveling well coming into the straight and he gradually got past the rest of the field to improve his record to 15 starts for 4 wins, 9 placings and $136,645 worth of prizemoney. CHRIS was a key factor in the introduction of overseas horses arriving in Australia to race and has being doing it successfully for some years now. COUP ACCLAIM is among a number of horses that Chris has prepared for racing in Australia and these particularly horses are a catalyst for why CHRIS WALLER remains well ahead of the curve.
WALLER’s successful day concluded in the 6th race of the day when 4yo Mossman mare RADIATOR when out a well-supported favourite and duly saluted. Jimmy Cassidy joined Cory Brown and Hugh Bowman as the jockey’s to ride winners for Chris during the day. The best jockeys gravitate towards the best stables and seeing these three top Sydney jockey’s all riding for Chris over the day shows the pull that Chris was when his horses are running. Jockey’s obviously want to give themselves the best chance at winning and they know they are going to be on a genuine chance when Chris has prepared the horse. This often leaves Chris with a choice of the best jockey’s in the Sydney area and he has built up good relationships with all of them.
