There are certain musicians that have withstood the test of time and can truly be regarded as “a once in a lifetime”. When these artists perform or sing, they produce music that can resinate with all people over many different eras. It takes an “X-factor” that unfortunately many of us just don’t have to be placed in this elite class.
One such person who had this X-Factor was
“MARVIN GAYE”.
Marvin Gaye is still highly regarded as one of the most influential musicians in history
The “Prince of Soul” as he was so widely known helped to shape the sound of Motown Records in the 1960s with a string of number hits including "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine".
Like in the music industry, to be a champion racehorse you must have that “X-factor” that puts you above the rest. After hearing the hype from our team of experts and seeing him breeze up in New Zealand, we believe our ENCOSTA DE LAGO – PETTA GAYE colt to have this special something and has hence been named accordingly.
“MARVIN” will be the new racing name for our
ENCOSTA DE LAGO – PETTA GAYE colt.
Being out of the mare, PETTA GAYE, our colt was cleverly named
MARVIN after the Soul Singing Superstar and embodies the raw talent that the ageless artist had. Our colt draws plenty of similarities with his more well-known namesake; he is big and strong and when he already commands attention when put in front of a crowd.
Our ENCOSTA DE LAGO - PETTA GAYE colt has now been named MARVIN
MARVIN GAYE was not only a talented singer and song-writer but he played a variety of instruments that showed the multitude of talent that he had. From the age of four he was singing and playing piano in his father’s church and went on to learn keyboards, drums, percussion and synthesizers as well as piano and vocals.
MARVIN GAYE had hits from 1961 when he released his first album right through to his tragic death in 1984. Among these where classic hits “What's Going On”, “Let's Get It On”, "Sexual Healing" as well as the aforementioned "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". He truly survived the test of time and showed talent from his early years in music all the way through to his subsequent death.
We are hopeful that our colt,
MARVIN, can show the same longevity on track throughout his career as his brilliant and instrumental name sake showed the world.
In total, MARVIN GAYE reached the Billboard charts a total 67 times in the US, including 41 songs that reached the top-forty on the Billboard Hot 100, eighteen reaching the top-ten and three reaching number-one. 60 of those songs reached the top 40 of the R&B charts, 38 reaching the top 10 and thirteen reaching number-one. Six albums reached the top-ten of the Billboard 200 and eighteen reached the top-ten on the R&B chart with a total of seven albums reaching number-one. He was a genius at what he did and we hope to see the same success with MARVIN on track as he had in the studio.
"Let’s Get It On" record that the horse is to be trained by Sydney's premier trainer CHRIS WALLER and is currently in full work in his stables. “What’s Going On?” you ask with his racing prospects? He has all the makings of a lovely middle distance horse and will likely be aimed toward Derby type races in his 3yo career.
"What's Going On" was one of MARVIN GAYE's biggest albums and songs
We wish the best of luck to all of the owners in this outstanding colt and hope that we will be singing all the way to the winners circle when
MARVIN hits the track. “How Sweet it is” to racing a horse with DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS and we can’t wait to see him hit the track shortly.
