Such is Gerry's belief in his product he produces and the bond we have developed as mates, that no matter what yearling Dynamic Syndications purchases from him, Gerry buys straight back in to race in partnership with us.
On Saturday evening at the 4th and final session of the 2012 Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, our targeted yearling was offered for sale by Gerry's Baramul Stud. He was lot 599 a cracking colt and full brother to Gr1 & Dual Gr3 Winner PERFECTLY READY (now a promising sire at stud in NZ) from a mare that is the 1/2 sister to Golden Slipper Winner BELLE DU JOUR.

Gerry had a wonderful draft of yearlings on offer in the main sale and we had wanted to purchase 3 in particular however market forces drove the price on the others above our budget. Prior to the start of the night session, we spoke about how well the sale was going for the Magic Millions and him personally and we explained that we had missed his previous horses but we wanted to try and buy Lot 599. Gerry told me that he would not put a high reserve on the colt and see how we go.
True to his word, Gerry put the yearling on the market and bidding commenced. We were not confident we would get the colt but we wanted him and were going to try our hardest to buy him. During the bidding battle Gerry was standing in the vendors box behind the auctioneer and Gerry could see from his position that Dynamic was bidding on the horse. As bidding rose beyond $100,000 and then to $120,000 Gerry was aware that Dynamic were on the horse at the $120,000 bid. This was below his reserve price and after a quick discussion with the auctioneer Gerry reduced his price to meet the market. Going, Going SOLD ! To the announcement Be Dynamic !
Team Dynamic were in shock that we had the colt at $120,000 + GST = $132,000.
Adam Watt was standing over where the yearlings enter and leave the ring and as Gerry left the vendors box he had a chat with Adam and told him that he knew that it was his father bidding so he dropped his price but there was no way he was not racing the horse with us and brought back a leg (25%) immediately. With a stallions pedigree that is a typically astute business decision by Gerry.
Simply if he wins black type or even a Gr1 the horse is worth a fortune on his pedigree and the deeds of his full brother and with Gerry having 5 thoroughbred studs in Australian and New Zealand it's a lot cheaper buying a leg now than it will be in the future.
PERFECTLY READY is Now At Stud. He was Champion NZ First Season Sire of 2010-11. Standing at Brighthill Stud for $12,000 Service Fee. He has sired stakes class horses: QUEEN BOUDICCA, BEEJAY BELLE, PRECISE, ISLE BE READY, READY STEADY, BRACKENWOOD, PERFECT KATCH, etc, from just 1 1/2 crops to race.

As a genetic rating, this colt was ranked the 3rd Best Colt of the 891 lots in the catalogue. From our inspections the first 2 colts failed physical inspection so in our opinion he was Number 1.
He rated an A +++ with a Best Of Sale rating of 3 Stars. This is based upon a lot of factors in the genetic make up of the colt, especially relating to the quality of the ancestors in the family bred on similar patterns. Specifically this is one of the most potent crosses in the Australian Stud Book - More Than Ready over Danehill (Danzig) line mares. This cross has produced 14 Stakes Winners to date including: SEBRING, BENICIO, DREAMAWAY, PERFECTLY READY, ELITE FALLS, AUGUSTA PROUD, DELORAINE, MISS CHALLENGE, READY TO PLEASE, CAMBIASO, HOT 'N' READY, MAHISARA, PROLIFERATE, READYOR, etc.
