They don't come along often but when they do, we pride ourselves on being vigilant and having performed countless hours of our due diligence tests across all qualified yearlings, we become like all good Boy Scout's are - "Always Be Prepared".
At Dynamic, our company motto is "Won It" however there is one cluster of classic races that have eluded us to date and we have a burning desire to set about fixing that scoreboard. We are yet to win a Derby or an Oaks. I have come close with 2 seconds and 1 third but I am yet to win one.
I believe that this stunning filly we purchased on Day 3 has the potential to add to our resume and change not only our lives but also those who join with us to race her. We believe she has the potential genetically, conformationally and commercially to live up to our dreams and be worth a small fortune as a broodmare upon racetrack retirement.
Yesterday was the 29th February, a rare day that rolls around once every 4 years. So special a day that you can easily believe in things that happen on this day, can produce magical experiences !
That's what I believe has happened. It's was a Dynamic day that allowed us to buy a magical filly.
We secured Lot 521, a superb daughter of Champion Racehorse and Outstanding Stallion LONHRO from the highest class racemare, talented enough to win a (Sydney) Group 1 =
FINE SOCIETY ( she's by Champion Racehorse & Sire MARSCAY).
She won 3 races - 1 at 2 - from 1200m to 1900m. Apart from winning the 2003 Group 1 STC Canterbury Classic, she also won 2 other City Races and also ran 2nd in the Gosford Guineas LR. Trained by John Hawkes, her career was 8 Starts: 3 wins, 1 second, 1 third & $336,280 prizemoney.
She is no fluke of nature. She boasts a strong pedigree saturated in black type from which is easy to understand her racing and breeding success.
After all, she is a 1/2 sister to wonderful South African racehorse :
SILVERPOINT
-
Winner of the Gr2 South African Derby and the Drum Star Hcp LR.
-
2nd in the July Hcp Gr1, South African Classic Gr1, Ganteng Guineas Gr2, London News S. Gr3,
-
3rd in the South African Nursery P. Gr1, Colorado King S. Gr2,
-
4th Premier's Champion S., Gr1, Dingaans H. Gr2.
-
Also she is a 1/2 sister to the twice city winning and Dual Stakes Placed MAGIC OF MUSIC (2d South Australia S LR, Be Discreet S LR.).
FINE SOCIETY'S
- Grand-dam is the Outstanding Gr1 winner MAGIC FLUTE (Newmarket Cheveley Park S Gr1, Royal Ascot Coronation S Gr2, St Hugh's S LR, Strensall S LR).
MAGIC FLUTE
- Produced Stakes Winners LOST CHORD and EAGLING (successful sire) and she also produced the dam of Stakes Winners LA PERSIANA and the Champion Racehorse and International / Australasian sire GRAND LODGE.
As a broodmare, we cannot ask of the mare FINE SOCIETY to have done anymore at this stage of her career. She has had 4 to race 4 winners:
Haut Ton (f by Redoute's Choice) Winner at 1300m ( Peter Snowden) anticipating she will win black type this carnival, (the wraps are huge on this mare)
Elms (g by Zabeel) 3 wins 1500m - 2200m,
Context (g by Falbrav) 2 wins at 900m - 1200m,
Political Playboy (c by Dehere) recent Winner at 1800m in South Africa.
This is a winning family. The first three dams 17 to race 16 winners !
Add in the great success LONHRO is enjoying at Stud :
-
371 Runners = 261 Winners, 50 Placed + 27 Unplaced but Prizemoney Earners.
-
32 Stakes Winners, 21 Stakes Placed.
-
91.1% Runners : Earners
-
70.3% Runners : Winners
-
14.3% Runners : Black Type Performers
The opportunities that lie ahead for this filly are endless. From a female family that has produced 17 runners : 16 winners (94.1%), by a sire that produces 91.1% Runners : Earners ( 7 out of 10 runners have won), we have certainly stacked the odds in our favour.
Add in outstanding conformation, clear and clean x-rays and endoscopic evaluation.
Next add a cross that has been proven to work. This cross has produced 25 Stakes Winners (13 Females :12 Males) including 11 middle distance winners:
-
Gr1 AJC Derby (12f) Winner DON EDUARDO,
