Jockey Jimmy Cassidy, Dynamic Syndications and trainer David Payne combined with Dream Choice at Hawkesbury on Cup Day to see the horse sizzle around the 1200m trip in 1:10.13 and score a well deserved victory in the XXXX Gold Maiden Plate.
Dream Choice (3yo colt Redoute's Choice ex Patou) broke through score his first win and bring his record to now 7 starts: 1 win, 2 seconds, 2 thirds and has earned $45,480.
He has only missed a placing twice, both times were in Stakes company when not beaten far behind Foxwedge and Uate. Today's win was worth $18,000 ($13,000 + a $5,000 BOBS Bonus), not a bad result for a provincial maiden. He was the best of good things beaten last start when second beaten a pimple and then our rider protested against the winner but the protest was dismissed.
Dream Choice is the 1/2 brother to Golden Slipper Winner Polar Success and Stakes Placed Parfumier and Port Headland and is a full brother to Scent of Joy that Dynamic has also raced.
Dream Choice is owned by a terrific syndicate of owners including:
- Dynamic Syndications Dream Choice (Mgr: Dean Watt, Bill Violentis, Matthew Bender, Ian Hannant)
- Mrs Tina Georgiou
- Geoff Luke
- Gerry Harvey
- Pablo Bonilla
- John Yianni
- Jack Carter
- Geoff Gobby
- Jack Keely
- Kevin Syrros
Dream Choice has done a great job especially considering he was foaled on 11 November so is still technically not a 3yo in physical terms.
The handicappers had been punishing him for his consistency and this made it very difficult to place the horse in suitable races because he would get the grandstand in handicaps and not being fully mature, this was a big task. Therefore we had to keep him to Set Weights maidens to beat the handicapper but that often meant taking on the older horses that were physically so much stronger.
Despite that, he showed a clean pair of heels today and won with incredible authority.
The plan was to track up behind them leaders 3 or 4 lengths back from the speed and run on however things did not quite work to plan and "The Pumper" (Jimmy Cassidy) summed up the race after 150m. Having been a fraction tardy to jump the field went the first 100m of the race so tightly you could have covered them with a handkerchief.
Having jumped from the widest barrier 10, the runner on our inside elected to push forward and in doing so Jimmy drove Dream Choice across at its girth to settle second at the quarters of the leader. Both horses started to get trucking and the field quickly started to spread out over a dozen or more lengths. Jimmy was swinging on our horse approaching the turn and let Dream Choice have a bit more rein and the horse moved up to eyeball the leader. In typical Jimmy Cassidy trademark style, he sat pretty in the saddle with a lap full of horse until the 250m when he pushed the button and our colt bounded to the lead to go on and score a convincing 2.5 length x Head win in 1:10.13 coming home the last 600m in 35.56 secs.
Owners Pablo Bonilla and Jack Carter were fortunate enough to be there and greeted a smiling Jimmy Cassidy upon his return to the winner's circle.
The boys reported that Jimmy was full of praise for the horse and commented he knew he was on the winner a long way from home and the horse has a nice future.
Congratulations also go to our talented trainer David Payne. He has always placed the horse to advantage considering this colt's late foaling date and believes the horse may be better suited as the trip increases and especially he will be something special in the Autumn.
This has been a winning double for Dynamic Syndications / Jimmy Cassidy and Dynamic owner PABLO BONILLA in the past few days after the three of us had combined to score another dominant win with ICY MIST at Canterbury last Friday evening and now Dream Choice has won at Hawkesbury.
This was Dynamic Syndications 254th win and continues our terrific start for the 2011-12 racing season recording our 22nd win.
