Fast becoming one of the most influential thoroughbred nurseries in Victoria, Chatswood Stud hosted their annual open day on the Sunday. The most excited guest on the day was none other than Black Caviar’s and Victoria’s champion trainer Peter Moody who was keen to get reacquainted with his former star 2yo - the Blue Diamond Winner REWARD FOR EFFORT and another of his stable star’s Anacheeva (Caulfield Guineas).
Greg Willis - Chatswood Stud & Peter Moody
Moody transformed both these Chatswood resident sires, Reward For Effort and Anacheeva into Group 1 winners. Such is his fondness for both horses he is sending his own band of mares to both sires in 2012.
Reward For Effort - Feeling Good
Greg Willis and his team at Chatswood Stud were delighted that despite the miserable weather, more than 200 guests arrived. Acting as Master of Ceremonies for the day was none other that Inglis stalwart and auctioneer Peter Heagney.
REWARD FOR EFFORT has his first crop hitting the ground this spring. After covering a Full Book of 150 mares in 2011, that saw him easily take out Victorian leading first season sire honours despite having capped his book at 150 mares. He was the 2nd hottest freshman sire in Australia – just 2 mares behind the most active. There is no doubt he would have taken out the Australian honour as well had the sire not had his booked capped.
A Reward For Effort foal just 2 days old - He's going a great job
His first crop foals that have hit the ground are magnificent types just like him and breeders have been so impressed there has been a flood of mares being booked into him again over the last few weeks. He will undoubtedly serve a bigger book again in 2012 and this will set those astute breeders who have used him for their mares, on the path to equine riches. Reward for Effort stands at a fee of $11,000.

Standing alongside REWARD FOR EFFORT is ANACHEEVA who will be active in his first season at a fee of $8,800.
He too is proving popular with broodmare owners wanting a stallion free of Danehill bloodlines.
Also standing at Chatswood Stud in 2012 are Purrealist, Racer's Edge and Amadeus Wolf (GB).
However without doubt the star of the show is REWARD FOR EFFORT.
