Gai Waterhouse Racing were on tenterhooks during July, seeing if the stable could break its own 2013 – 2014 record of Total Stakes Wins.
2013 – 2014 was Gai’s Best Stakes Winning Season with the Lady Trainer recording 36 Stakes Wins; made up of: 7 Group 1 wins, 10 Group 2 wins, 11 Group 3 wins and 8 Listed wins.
These wins were achieved by 23 individual horses.
The final tally for 2014 – 2015 was 34 Stakes wins that were comprised of 7 Group 1 victories (same as the previous season), 9 Group 2 wins (one down on the previous season), 7 Group 3 wins (four down on the previous season) and 11 Listed wins (four up on the previous year).
The stable were oh so close but fell just 2 wins shy.
Najoom and Bohemian Lily missing runs late in the QLD winter carnival just might have cost the team the opportunity to at least match the stellar 2013-14 season.

A lot of numbers, plenty of versatility and another great season for Gai Waterhouse and everyone at Gai Waterhouse Racing.
However Gai will tell anyone that will listen that you can’t win races this Saturday by reflecting (for too long) on the races from last Saturday.
Gai may be in the Hall of Fame, 3rd on the all-time Group 1 list and the winner of the most prizemoney in Australian racing history.
But the Lady Trainer’s eyes are always firmly looking forward; watching for the next winner, searching for the next promising type and identifying her next champion.
And so the journey continues into 2015 – 2016.
Already on the radar is
Najoom, Pornichet, Vancouver and Excess Knowledge (just to name a few), all up and thriving along with the dozens of named and unnamed just turned two-year-olds that are starting to show their true colours, nobody would be so reckless as to bet against Gai again having a stellar season.
We trust for our
Dynamic Syndications with GAI that this time next year, these stats are again being written up for our website and we will be reporting upon on the rise and rise of the Gai Waterhouse Racing Stables!
We invite you to join us on this ride to success.
