Saturday marks the first day of spring and the carnival is in full swing headlined by a brilliant field in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes 1400m.
The Tramway Stakes that will capture the most attention.
The $200,000 Group 2 Tramway Stakes is a star studded field of 13 of Australia’s racing elite, including 6 individual Group 1 winners and 4 Gr1 placegetters:
Group 1 winners Le Romain, Comin’ Through, Takedown, Egg Tart, Foxplay, Youngstar
Group 2 winning & Gr1 placed Pierata
Group 2 winning & Gr1 placed Dixie Blossoms
Group 3 Winning & Gr1 placed Arbeitsam
Group 3 Winner Duca Valentinois
Group 3 Winner Lanciato
Gr1 placed Tom Melbourne
Gr3 placed Nettoyer
Pierata heads early betting just in front of Le Romain with only two other runners under double figures Lanciato Tom Melbourne.
There will be plenty of Black-Type results emanate from this field over the coming months.
Arbeitsam for Dynamic Syndications is one of 8 horses in the field resuming from a spell. He has his eye on targeting some 1600m to 2000m races later into his preparation but this is a nice race to kick off his programme with 56.0kgs under Set Weights and Penalties as a Benchmark 104.
Arbeitsam under the care of Gai and Adrian will be piloted by Tim Clark in the feature event.
After his magnificent preparation over the Autumn where he added the Gr3 Neville Sellwood to his resume and ran 3rd in the Gr1 Doncaster and 2nd in the Magic Millions Cup, he has taken his career record to 20 starts: 7 wins, 3 seconds, 4 thirds with earnings to $1,047,750.
Arbeitsam has never looked better to start a preparation as our 5yo gelding by Snitzel x Workhard is the strongest he has ever been and is free of any issues.
His trackwork has been breathtaking leading into the event but it was going to have to be, considering the high quality individuals he is racing.
His progression has taken him through his grades from being a big fish in a little pond to know becoming the little fish in the big pond, as he has to compete against the best of the best.
However the stable is adamant that he will acquit himself well.
His excited owners are counting down the hours until his return:
