Dynamic Syndications progressive galloper ARBEITSAM 4yo Gelding (by Snitzel x Workhard by Red Ransom) will use the
$100,000 Magic Millions 4yo & 3yo Stakes over 1200m at Wyong on Thursday as his lead-in to the
$1 million Magic Millions 1400m Cup to be held on 13 January on the Gold Coast.
It’s scary to think know just how good
ARBEITSAM is going since his let-up. At his most recent trial,
jockey Tim Clark reported the
ARBEITSAM “towed him around” in winning his trial over 1030m. Tim reported
“he’s better again, bigger and stronger, he’s going fantastic.”
ARBEITSAM is an obvious tongue twister for most race callers who battle with his pronunciation.
However it is simple.
Here in Australia ARBEITSAM is pronounced ARE – BEAT – SOME. It is the German word for
“working hard”.
Why use this German word?
Well a Snitzel has its origins in Austria and in Austria they speak German.
The Dam of our horse is named Workhard. So since the sire’s name was of German language origin, the same origin for Workhard was applied to the Dam’s name and that translates to
ARBEITSAM or as we say here in Australia:
ARE-BEAT-SOME.
ARBEITSAM was the find of the winter months in the Sydney Racing scene and took his race record to 13 starts: 6 wins, 2 seconds, 3 thirds and $471,150 prizemoney.
Last preparation he started in 7 races with 4 wins and twice second (once by 0.1 lengths and the other by 0.2 lengths).
He finished last preparation with an outstanding win in the
Listed ROWLEY MILE at Hawkesbury.
During last preparation
ARBEITSAM raised his Benchmark Rating Score from a Bm68 up to a Bm97 rating.
It was identified that despite having raced up to 1800m last time in as a 3yo, we believe he is a genuine sprinter / miler (1400m to 1600m) racehorse and we have some big races identified for him to contest in 2018.
After
ARBEITSAM put the string of wins together culminating in his
Rowley Mile victory, we elected to have a short break and prime
ARBEITSAM for a second up tilt at the
MAGIC MILLIONS CUP. We believed the 1400m would be ideal.
To get him ready for this assignment,
Team Dynamic worked with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott discussing various options upon how to have him cherry ripe for this $1 million assignment.
An original view was to head into the ATC Razor Sharp 1200m on 16/12 then head to Queensland and run on 31/12 in the 1350m Buffering Quality and then 2 weeks into the 1400m Magic Millions Cup on 13/1.
However we reconsidered that approach and decided to
have 3 barrier trials on the 16/11, 28/11 and 8/12 then run in the Wyong Magic Millions 4yo & 3yo 1200m Stakes under Set Weights.
Four reasons behind this logic were:
Firstly, he had a long preparation last time so we wanted to take our time with him and allow him to build to race fitness without being under race pressures to ensure he didn’t become flat and disinterested. By having three soft trials without pushing him as hard as you would in a race, would be ideal.
Second, we believe the Wyong circuit does suit leaders and
ARBEITSAM is a natural running type who leads in his races.
Third, being a Benchmark 97 rated horse, he is a little harder to place in races because now he is too highly handicapped for restricted grade so he is now forced to compete in Open Company races. However the race at Wyong under Set Weights and restricted to Magic Millions graduates only is ideal. The Team believed this race would suit best, limiting the handicapper to only give him 59kgs on a 54kgs limit.
Fourth, against the pre-Christmas 3yo’s under the W-F-A Scale he is very well placed and under the Benchmark Ratings system again he is well treated.
This will be his only start before heading to Queensland.
Once there, we are considering giving him trial as a familiarisation of the Gold Coast on the 2nd January to have him in pristine order for the 1400m Magic Millions Cup on 13/1.
