Dynamic Syndications dual Gr1 Winning Speed Machine
ATOMIC FORCE (Danehill Dancer / Show Of Force) proved to connections the classy sprinter is back from niggling injury and well on target for the Melbourne Spring Carnival with a effortless win in heat 7 at Randwick on Monday morning.
Having had just an easy time on a mud heap at his first trial at Rosehill a fortnight ago, our team were keen to see the horse do a bit more work without being over taxed. We were just interested in getting him to have a hit out and a bit of a blow with no pressure before putting him on the truck to Melbourne.
Trainer Darren Smith had the horse looking a lot more forward in condition this morning and the gelding had a terrific glow to his coat.
Nash Rawiller who rode the horse was asked to give him as easy time as he could but still give him a workout to bring along his fitness after heavy rain in the Newcastle district had hindered his training progress as vital trackwork was lost on closed tracks.
Jumping quickly, Atomic Force led with ease on settling before Nash took hold of him allowing Tommy Berry’s mount to travel up and lead giving Atomic Force a nice trail behind the pacemaker. Gr1 Winner Secret Admirer (ridden by Corey Brown) then came up to be at the girth of Atomic Force. Sitting on the back of Secret Admirer was the John Thompson trained Tagus (Christian Reith). A stakes winner, he switched to the outside and ran on well, challenging Secret Admirer on the post to run third. As the field sped along to the turn, Nash allowed Atomic Force to travel in behind the nippy Tommy Berry mount The Last General, until into the straight where at the 200m he switched off the heels of the leader to its outside and Atomic Force picked up the bit and cruised up and then went past the leader. Secret Admirer and Tagus ran on well wider on the track but Atomic Force was under Nash’s control until the last 50m where he was allowed to stride out over the concluding stages before Nash grabbed him again just past the post.
Nash then allowed Atomic Force to run along a bit further than normal, working well down the side, to half way down the back straight before pulling up and returning to the stalls.

Darren Smith and Dean Watt were there to meet Nash and Atomic Force and walk back to the tie-up stalls. Nash was delighted with how the horse had trialled and worked in past the finishing post.
Nash dismounted and Dean grabbed a video clip as the rider reported in.
Nash said “He began very well and then just switched in behind the leader of Clarry Conners (trainer). I think it will do his confidence the world of good coming back from injury. Today he went through his gears and let down and obviously won the trial with a little bit in hand. I would have liked something to have been chasing me a bit closer to the line but he feels good, he did everything right today and I couldn’t be happier”

Post Trial
A little while later, Corey Brown walked past and commented that Atomic Force trialed well and asked what we thought of the trial (he rode Secret Admirer in the same heat). Naturally we reported to Corey we were very happy. Also young Tommy Berry sought Dean out after the trial to comment how well the good horse went. He picked me up and went straight past me as if I wasn’t there. Gee he went well.”
However keeping things in perspective, we were the only class sprinter in the field whilst most other runners are better at 1600m but all the horse can do is record a win in a tradesman like way which is exactly what he achieved. He was not out there to win the trial in fast time. It was just to blow the cobwebs out in a controlled way. We achieved our goal.
A decision on his immediate future will be made in the next few days with several options on the table. The plan is to now send him to Melbourne later this week to settle into his Melbourne environment and train the Melbourne direction and get onto his opposite lead leg in preparation for a resumption run later this month.
His first up assignment will be either on 25 August at Moonee Valley the 1000m Plate a $120,000 ($72,000 to the winner) Listed Race for 4yo and Up under SW&P.
Alternatively, we can wait 7 days until 1 September at Caulfield and run in The Heath (Sportspix Stakes) Listed Race of $120,000 ($72,000 to the winner) this was the race he won last year over 1100m under SW&P.
All will depend upon environmental factors once he goes to Melbourne, including how he settles in and works along and then also with barrier draws. He had no luck at all in Melbourne last Spring and we have our fingers crossed he doesn’t get another run of outside draws.
His Spring Preparation (subject to change) is:
Trial 17/7 at Rosehill
Trial 30/7 at Randwick
2/8 Travel to Melbourne
