On Saturday DINKY DI DORA led from start to finish despite giving 3 kgs to the runner-up and 2 kgs to the third placed runner, DINKY DI DORA dominated the race as rider Mitchell Bell controlled the speed and then upon straightening took off to run home in a sizzling 33.48 easily the fastest of the day.
GAI WATERHOUSE on her homepage said:
EVERYTHING IS JUST DINKY
The Redoute’s Choice filly Dinky Di Dora (Redoute's Choice x Diana Cazadora) has made the quantum leap this autumn.
During the spring, I knew this filly had plenty of ability, and I took her out to Scone for a race that I thought she would win.
She didn’t quite come up, so I decided to give the filly a long spell and now, she is back and she is going better than ever.
This filly likes being on the pace; she showed that on Saturday, and I really loved the way Mitchell Bell positioned her where she was comfortable.
Rounding the home turn, the gun hoop gave his mount a touch more leverage and she put the field way in a few giant bounds.
I can already hear the naysayers screaming from the hills – ‘it was maiden at Newcastle, not the Cox Plate, how can you be so impressed.’
Well to those with doubts, and there are always plenty, I can tell you that when I am really taken by a horse and a win, I don’t care where and when the win was recorded.
Owners, all owners love a win and it is so very important to get every horse in my stable to win as soon as possible and who is to say this filly won’t keep improving and make it to a higher level?
They all have to start somewhere and the way this filly put her foot down when asked, indicates to me that she may be able to win bigger and better races. I can assure you these are the races I will be targeting.
