Hot on the heels of the stakes success of trainer David Payne’s 3yo colt
ALL TOO HUIYING, over the VRC Carnival, boom young sire
ALL TOO HARD had a big weekend winning two (2) Feature Races along with another young winner who demoralised his opposition plus a spectacular debutant.
ALL TOO HUIYING
Wins by
VILLERMONT (Gr2) – DEMONETIZATION – BOOM CHICKA BOOM – ALL TOO FAMILIAR sees
ALL TOO HARD open up a
commanding lead in the Second Seasons Sires Premiership for Winners & Wins and close the gap on PIERRO in Earnings.
Gr2 Winner for ALL TOO HARD as Villermont Surges to win SANDOWN GUINEAS.
VILLERMONT
The Group 2 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas (1600m) hero Villermont surged home from last on the turn, to register his first stakes win.
Making just his fourth trip to the races,
Villermont was given plenty of time to find his feet by Luke Nolen. Eased out to make his challenge in the straight, the son of All Too Hard picked off runner after runner as Black Hail was being called the likely winner.
Peaceful State, made its run with Villermont and both collared Black Sail who weakened in the last 50 metres.
The Aaron Purcell-trained Villermont would not be denied, edging past Peaceful State by a head with Black Sail a neck back in third.
With the suspension of Ciaron Maher in October, Purcell took over the running of the stable.
"He's a very well bred horse, a lovely looking animal who works like a machine at home.
“We came here expecting him to run well. We knew he would get back; that was the plan. We were hoping he would settle enough and get the run at the right time because we were sure he would be strong late.
"He's definitely going to be a better horse in the autumn. We deliberately gave him a light spring. We will give him a break now and aim him at the stronger three-year-old races in the autumn.
"Vinery stand the stallion (All Too Hard) they want to see good results and trusted us to do a good job with the horse and today he delivered."
Villermont is the seventh and final foal of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic heroine Bollinger who died in October last year. The daughter of Dehere (USA) spent the majority of her broodmare career in America where she produced Grade 2 Louisiana Derby winner Friesan.
The winner of five of her eight starts, Bollinger was a half-sister to Group 3 winners Mannington and Sheraton out of Marscay's 1993 Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay.
Mannington is the dam of Group 1 Victoria Derby winner Benicio and Group 2 winner Romneya.
Villermont becomes the third stakes winner for All Too Hard joining ALL TOO HUIYING and CURDLED.
Derby Path set for yet ANOTHER 3YO Son of All Too Hard
DEMONETIZATION
In NZ, Nigel Tiley believes his
unbeaten colt DEMONETIZATION is classic material. The Pukekohe horseman can speak with authority having ridden Ring The Bell to Gr.1 New Zealand Derby success in 1980 and he also trained Look Who's Talking to claim top honours in the Ellerslie feature 14 years later.
Tiley is now keen to target the Blue Riband event with Demonetization, who kept his perfect record intact in Saturday's feature race over 1400m at Tauranga.
"He was very well and he's got a great attitude," Tiley said. "He's definitely going to stay and the Derby is the race to look at.
"He's always showed me a lot. He's a very casual horse and so laid back, he's saves it all for race day."
A debut winner on his home track last month, on Saturday Demonetization was slowly away under rider Jason Waddell who didn't panic and settled at the back of the field.
"It wasn't such a bad thing, if he had gone forward from his wide gate he would probably have been caught three wide," Tiley said.
Waddell urged the colt around runners into the straight and Demonetization finished of strongly to claim stakes-performed filly Kapoor to win by a short head.
"I might take him to Ellerslie for a look around there in the Bonecrusher Stakes before he goes out for a break," Tiley said.
BOOM CHICKA BOOM goes BANG
BOOM CHICKA BOOM
The MICK PRICE stables at Caulfield unleashed a potential top line ALL TOO HARD youngster at Cranbourne on Saturday evening when BOOM CHICKA BOOM won Race 2 eased down by a widening 5.5 lengths over 1000m.
Facing the starter for just the 2nd career start, BOOM CHICKA BOOM was desperately unlucky over 1100m on debut when he led all the way until the last bound when claimed by a pimple when the photo was taken.
Here they were never going to catch him as he ran away from his peers.
BOOM CHICKA BOOM appears another high quality youngster by a stallion who is outperforming his peers.
ALL TOO FAMILIAR scores in impressive fashion on debut
On Friday at Gundagai at their big Snake Cully Cup Day meeting, another ALL TOO HARD debutant made it a one act affair when
3yo Filly ALL TOO FAMILIAR swooped down the outside to claim victory for Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones Stables. It was a very impressive effort by the debutant in a fast run race after
ALL TOO FAMILIAR was given time to balance up.
It was a big few days for ALL TOO HARD with 4 winners taking his overall tally to 36 Winners of 47 Races.
