Serene Majesty, a Group 3 winner in Melbourne last spring, produced her 'A game' at Scone on Saturday to beat the colts in the
$400,000 Inglis Scone Guineas.
Serene Majesty had been placed at her past two starts in Black Type company and under a cool ride from Kerrin McEvoy arrived in the last stride to claim victory.
She surged to the line to beat Snitzel colt Spill the Beans by half a head in the 1400 metre feature, which was won two years ago by champion sprinter Chautauqua.
Serene Majesty has won three races and placed four times from 10 starts earning over $440,000 in prizemoney, but will be assessed on a run to run basis as regards further goals this preparation.
A $400,000 Inglis Easter yearling, Serene Majesty runs for a syndicate that includes many of the Black Caviar owners.
She was bred by Segenhoe and is from stakes-winning Lonhro mare Custard from the family of speedy stakes-winners such as Fravashi, Pure Joy and Russian Caravan.
Fastnet Rock Gelding wins Ortensia Stakes LR
Ready to fire first up after a spell following two strong trial wins, the Fastnet Rock gelding
Kaepernick delivered the right result, powering clear to win the 1100 metre sprint by two and a quarter lengths.
"I got more confident when the trainer was legging me up and he said 'he'll win'," said winning rider Robert Thompson.
"He's a very nice horse. I rode him quiet, let him go through his gears and when I let him go he went whoosh.
"He picked them up in two strides. I'm sure there are more wins in store."
Kaepernick has the overall record of five wins and four placings from 13 starts with prizemoney of $338,750.
The Stradbroke is the ultimate goal for connections as long as he does everything right going forward.
A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Broadwater Thoroughbreds draft, Kaepernick was bred by Jonathan Munz, Pinecliff Racing.
He is the best of four winners from stakes-winning Stravinsky (USA) mare Volcada, who is out of a half-sister to Group I winner Ideal Planet.
Kapernick is the 94th stakes-winner worldwide for Coolmore's flagship sire Fastnet Rock.
Group One Goals for Fastnet Mare in Europe
Dermot Weld's Irish bred four year-old Fastnet Rock mare
Zhukova stamped herself as a future Group I prospect when taking the Group III Blue Wind Stakes at Naas last Wednesday in Ireland by more than seven lengths.
Starting as a short priced favourite she accounted for the promising daughter of
$5m mare MILANOVA named Pretty Perfect (3f Galileo x Milanova) in the 1m 2f (2000m) staying test.
"Present thoughts are to leave her off (spell) for a summer break now and you probably won´t see her till the autumn, when I hope she will grow into a Group 1 filly," said Weld.
"She loves a little ease in the ground and I think that was an excellent re-run of this race. The fillies and mares race at Ascot in the autumn is the target."
Zhukova has won four of six starts and this was her third Black Type win.
She is the best of three winners from Group 1 Irish Thousand Guineas winner Nightime, a half-sister by Galileo to the dam of Australian stakes-winner Ondina.
