The first yearlings by Brazen Beau proved popular with buyers this year and the outstanding sprinter cemented his position as
number one in the first-season sire ranks with a yearling average of $158,431.
BRAZEN BEAU – The dual G1 winner made his mark in the Australian and New Zealand sales rings
This was an excellent result considering there were yearlings by 28 commercial first-season sires amongst a total of 41 “new boys” on offer at the 2018 sales.
Brazen Beau retired to stud with two G1 wins on home soil and a very close second in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, ensuring he was well supported by breeders when he joined the Australian stallion ranks in 2015.
Brazen Beau enjoyed early sales success when recording a sales-topping price at the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale, with his son out of Stakes-winning mare Written Dash selling to Hong Kong based Orbis Bloodstock for
$480,000.
The son of I Am Invincible was named leading first-season sire by sale average at the Inglis Classic sale, recording
$193,750 - well ahead of his nearest rivals.
Brazen Beau’s success continued into the Inglis Australian Easter Sale, where he set a new benchmark of
$700,000 for a lovely filly out of the Group-placed Encosta de Lago mare Pretty Penny, already dam of three Black Type winners including G2 winner and multiple G1-placed Sertorius.
Godolphin purchased his highest-priced colt at the Easter sale when going to
$400,000 to secure a son of Stakes-winning juvenile Veuvelicious.
Brazen Beau averaged $351,667 at Easter which once again was enough to see him crowned leading first-season sire at the sale (three or more sold), with daylight between him and his nearest peer.
Later this year, Brazen Beau will move into the next phase of his stud career, when these yearlings turn two-year-olds and should they prove as successful on the track as they have in the ring, there are exciting times ahead for this exciting young stallion.
Brazen Beau in 2018 will stand at Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of $38,500 inc GST.
