Since winning the Gr1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington in November,
I Am Invincible colt Brazen Beau has been hot property in the sire prospect market.
On Wednesday
Darley Stud announced they have purchased the sprinter.
BRAZEN BEAU - Now owned by Darley Stud
Brazen Beau has won 4 of his 8 starts including the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes & BRC Champagne Classic, for $712,825 earnings.
Brazen Beau is the best son of
Australia’s champion first season sire I Am Invincible who is now leading the second season sires’ premiership by both winners and earnings.
Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible-Sansadee, by Snaadee) will remain in training with Chris Waller and will continue to race in the colours of his previous owners for the duration of his autumn campaign.
Brazen Beau won the Gr2 Champagne Stakes and finished second in the Gr1 JJ Atkins during his Brisbane winter in his two-year-old season before the colt returned to win the Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes and the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in his Spring 3yo campaign.
Brazen Beau will be targeted at the Gr1 Lightning Stakes and Gr1 Newmarket Handicap in the Autumn before heading to the UK to compete in the Gr1 Golden Jubilee and the Gr1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June next year in a bid to add a northern hemisphere Gr1 win to his record.
Darley's Managing Director in Australia Henry Plumptre said. "We are delighted to have secured Brazen Beau for stud duties next year. We identified him as a top class colt after his win in the Roman Consul Stakes in Sydney and it was no surprise to us when he won the Coolmore as impressively as he did. It is hoped that he will be able to underline his ability with an autumn campaign taking in two of this country's best sprints before running at Royal Ascot. He is a powerful type and as a G1 winner already he'll be a popular addition to our roster when he retires to take up stud duties at Northwood Park for the 2015 season."
I AM INVINCIBLE - Sire
Harry Mitchell of Yarraman Park, home to
Brazen Beau’s sire I Am Invincible sees the Darley acquisition of Brazen Beau as
a massive positive for their young stallion.
"To have a global operation such as Darley purchase his first Gr1 winning son can only be seen as a real vote of confidence in the long term potential for I Am Invincible,” said Mitchell.
"He’s done all that we have asked of him to date and exceeded expectation at every turn. He’s just covering his best ever book of mares and we look forward to watching his career go from strength to strength in coming years.”
