If anyone had any doubts about the strength of boom sire
SNITZEL and his
influence on the thoroughbred breeding industry were left in no doubt after the three days at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast this week.
Sweet Idea
The sale topper on Day 1 was the exceptional Gr1 winning daughter of
SNITZEL named SWEET IDEA. Trained by
Gai Waterhouse, the filly was snapped up for a cool
$1.6 million.
Day 2
SNITZEL was involved again, this time the sale topper was
RESPONSE who was carrying a service to this mighty sire SNITZEL. She was knocked down for
$1.5 million.
Also currently sitting in the
TOP 10 Sales was the Stakes Winning mare
KNEELING carrying a service to SNITZEL. She was the equal 8th highest price at
$800,000.
Ygritte
Also in equal 8th spot is the excellent race filly
YGRITTE by SNITZEL. She was a recent Stakes Winner and was sold for
$800,000.
To give further explanation and clarity to the strength of the market when it comes to
SNITZEL, currently the super sire has had 14 mares in foal to him to have gone under the hammer, 12 have sold with a gross of
$5,460,000 for an average of
$455,000 and a Median of
$300,000.
To give a comparison, the sale is averaging a record at
$118,000 and a Median of
$45,000.

SNITZEL trend was going to push prices up on his yearlings and the future sale of his progeny will see record prices.
Many investors won't get set on this wonderful sire's progeny as they will simply be too expensive.
