CHILCOTIN the Dynamic Syndications 4yo gelding by Medaglia d’Oro from Lake Charlotte (by Danzig) recorded his
third win from 13 starts at Muswellbrook on Friday afternoon when claiming
Race 8 the Goldolphin Benchmark 65 Hcp over 1500m running a slick 1:29.74 coming home his last 600m in 35.09 secs.
CHILCOTIN - 3rd win
The irony being that Dynamic Syndications had purchased CHILCOTIN from Godolphin when the horse was a 4 start maiden and earnings of just $2,895.
Since the change of ownership CHILCOTIN has started 9 occasions for his Team of Dynamic Owners recording 3 Wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, 1 fourth and 1 fifth and has earned $60,060 prizemoney.
CHILCOTIN has been placed to advantage and has been good enough to repay his owners with a Maiden win over 1400m at Goulburn followed by a Class 1 1750m win at Canberra and now a Benchmark 65 win over 1500m at Muswellbrook.
However, its not the fact of it being the third win for
CHILCOTIN that was so satisfying but rather it was the first race win we have had with
newly appointed Dynamic Trainer BENJAMIN SMITH at Newcastle.
Trainer BEN SMITH at Newcastle
Benjamin is shooting the lights out from his small block of 16 boxes at Newcastle and has had a wonderful Autumn winning Group 1 races with his horses
IN HER TIME and his $150/1 2yo Sires Produce winning galloper
EL DORADO DREAMING.
Dynamic Syndications chose to Team together with Benjamin Smith having watched this young man become the best trainer in NSW on Strike Rate in 2018.
The reasons behind his success are many but what is not a secret is his incredible dedication and attention to detail and this was on display again on Friday when
CHILCOTIN became our first winner together.
Ridden very well by the stables go to rider
JOSH ADAMS, CHILCOTIN responded to a gem of a ride to come from well back in the run to claim victory by 0.37 length x 0.84 length.
In a large field of 14 runners,
CHILCOTIN started at $5.50 second favourite behind the $3.80 Paul Perry trained SURJIN.
Jumping away well from barrier 6, there was a lot of pressure early as their were several horses wanting to dispute the lead. Josh Adams was alert to the pace being set up front and allowed
CHILCOTIN to find his feet early whilst holding a position just worse than midfield and by the time the field swung pas the 800m mark
CHILCOTIN was well back about 8 lengths off the leaders but the horse was being rated very well and bowling along in a rhythm.
As the field started to bunch approaching the home turn Josh was in a bit of traffic but had the back of the favourite who was making a charge for the lead. At the 250m the gap appeared and Josh asked
CHILCOTIN to stoke up and attack.
With perfect timing
CHILCOTIN sprinted up to go past the leader with 100m to run. However, once he got to the front,
CHILCOTIN started to stargaze and ran about which caused Josh to stop riding and straighten up his mount which prevented him from riding
CHILCOTIN aggressively. Not that this mattered as Josh knew he had the race in his keeping and pushed
CHILCOTIN to the line.
This was a good team effort by BENJAMIN SMITH + JOSH ADAM + DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS + CHILCOTIN.
The fact remains that
CHILCOTIN was just second-up after a spell but was his first start for his new trainer and first race ride for Josh Adams. What was also obvious to us is that this was a touch short of his preferred 1600m – 2000m racing range.
It was a sad week for part-owner
Ray Gatt and family who lost Ray’s mother-in-law and in respect for the family’s loss, Josh Adams wore a black armband in her memory.
CHILCOTIN and JOSH ADAMS return to the winner's circle
CHILCOTIN is owned by a wonderful ownership team and we couldn’t be happier for such a loyal group of owners that they are having fun with this honest racehorse.
CHILCOTIN is owned by: Dynamic Syndications Racing (Mgr: D W Watt), J P Keeley, S Koukoulas, A Turnbull, D J Gatti, A M Parish, Mrs T Parish, E Kidd, J Yianni, Mrs A T Woollett, P J Woollett, R A Gatt, R Lasek, Mrs K Larosa, D C Anderson, Camsteve Synd, Allwehl Racing Synd, C J R Racing Synd & Mrs M Kovac.
