CHOCOLATIER gets the CHOCKIES in a SWEET WIN at his 2nd Career Start

Victory has never tasted so sweet for the wonderful team of Dynamic Syndications owners who race CHOCOLATIER (NZ) our 4yo Bay Gelding by REDOUTE'S CHOICE from LA PRALINE.
Facing the starter for just the second time in his career, CHOCOLATIER won a hard fought victory on Thursday afternoon at Kembla Grange when claiming Race 7 – the MULLET CREEK MILE 4YO&UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600 METRES) and earned $16,630. On a Good 3 surface he recorded a time of 1:35.89 and a last 600m: 0:37.04.
CHOCOLATIER (NZ) was purchased by Dynamic Syndications from the NZ Bloodstock yearling sale.
The magnificent looking individual has been typical of many NZ bred horses that take a long time to mature into their skeletal frames but the weight is worth it, as the horse now embarks on what looks to be a bright staying future.
To win at just his second career start at a distance of 1600m requires a mighty piece of horse husbandry which trainers GAI WATERHOUSE and ADRIAN BOTT delivered for our ownership team.
With the race plan being to bowl along in front in a race that looked void of any likely speed, the race was turned on its head as they jumped, when CHOCOLATIER was beaten for early pace by the stablemate Kooza who shot 3 lengths in front and was doing it easy.
That left Chocolatier, being ridden by inform pilot Tim Clark to rate our horse in behind the leader and at the front of a packing field. As the field began to swing for home, Kooza hit the go button and was still 3 lengths in front with Chocolatier having to give chase whilst pressure was being applied by swoopers down the centre of the track.
At the 200m Chocolatier was eyeballing the leader Kooza but then, the second of his challengers being My King’s Counsel had moved up on his outside. After a 50 metre struggle with it, Chocolatier had out performed that runner but now was facing a third determined runner in Highjacker who was flashing down the outside.
In a battle to the post, Tim Clark asked Chocolatier to lift again and the gelding responded gallantly and out stayed that runner, drawing away to win by a neck with 2 lengths back to Kooza who rallied late for third.
This was a result for patience by owners who had to wait a bit for their horse to mature. By doing that, they have a sound tough staying prospect who should be able to go on and claim a few wins especially as the trips get longer.
CONGRATULATIONS to our Dynamic Team of Owners that race CHOCOLATIER:
