Another winner for
Team Dynamic on Sunday at Hawkesbury, when the very promising sprinter
CURFEW (Testa Rossa x Time For Bed) in the care of trainer
Darren Smith and steered by leading jockey
Peter Robl, romped in under the steadier of 58.5kgs, giving away a massive 7.5 kgs to the second, third and fourth horses and 6.5kgs to the fifth placed horse.
CURFEW in full action
This was a massive weight because
CURFEW was only a Class 1 horse running in this Class 2 event. Technically he was poorly treated at the weights in this Class, especially considering he was first up after a spell. However quality overcomes such disadvantage.
Winning this event,
CURFEW has now raced on
5 occasions: 2 wins, 3 seconds and $40,900.
CURFEW lead from start to finish, eased down to post a dominant 2 length victory.
CURFEW won Race 5 -
PAK-MOR WASTE EQUIPMENT AUST. CLASS 2 Hcp 1100m earning $12,250 for not much more work than what is required in an easy barrier trial, running 1:03.19 Last 600m: 0:34.53 starting an odds-on $1.80 favourite.
Presented to the races in excellent condition by important Dynamic team member, the top Newcastle based horseman
Darren Smith, if anything
CURFEW looked a "little too well" and was carrying a bit of extra condition however that made no difference to the result but will make a huge difference to his overall fitness heading into future runs.
Peter Robl rode the horse like the quality horseman he is, putting on a front running masterclass for his peers to appreciate. We had designed a tactic to lead and control the tempo from the fence and it was delightful to watch the plan pan out as per expectation.
Jumping cleanly from barrier 2, Peter allowed
CURFEW to role forward and cross to the fence after 250m, then controlled the tempo as the two main dangers (according to the bookies) sat outside him trying to obtain the front.
As they turned for home at the 420m, Peter gave
CURFEW a bit of rein and the horse skipped a length in front of those to his outside.
Held together until the 220m, Peter then asked
CURFEW to extend and he dashed 3 lengths in front. Tapped once at the 175m to keep his mind on the job,
CURFEW was never under threat at any stage and Peter let the horse ease down over the final 75m to go on and record this dominant win.
Interestingly, the horses that eyeballed
CURFEW for the first 600m, dropped out badly and were beaten over 10lengths and 15 lengths respectively.
MIDNIGHT AT ASCOT - 1/2 brother to CURFEW
CURFEW is a 1/2 brother to a previous Dynamic runner
MIDNIGHT AT ASCOT who won 7 races and was stakes placed.
CURFEW was Dynamic Syndications, 17th winner this racing season and became our 361st race win.
He was a
Magic Millions graduate, purchased from
Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud for $95,000 on the evening that
Midnight At Ascot had won the
Magic Millions Country Cup 1400m.
CURFEW is raced by a terrific group of Dynamic Syndications owners, many of whom had raced his 1/2 brother with us:
