Although there are many ups and downs in the racing game, one thing that doesn’t change is that the best sires seem to keep performing year in, year out. Once a sire has established himself as a leading stallion, generally their progeny produce the goods on track for many years after that. A great example of this is ENCOSTA DE LAGO who has been a multiple champion sire that continues to produce the goods in the breeding barn each year.
Encosta De Lago continues to do the job in the breeding barn each year
This year we see the trend continue with the best stallions once again topping the leading sire tables. Heading into a weekend with plenty of stakes action here in Australia, those who track the general sires premiership would be engrossed in what is turning into a formidable battle between reigning Australian Champion Sire, FASTNET ROCK and leading Sire of Winners, COMMANDS. FASTNET ROCK holds a narrow advantage with $5,420,839 earnings over COMMANDS’ on $5,339,880 however it's no two horse race with COMMANDS’ stable mate LONHRO not too far adrift on $5,052,983.
Fastnet Rock is trying to defend his Sire's crown this year
Dynamic put in the hard work to recognise these trends and over the past few seasons horses sired by ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FASTNET ROCK, COMMANDS and LONHRO have been the backbone of our organisation. These four top stallions have consistently shown that they are the leading sires in Australasia through the performances that their progeny put in each week usually at the big meetings.
Over the past two seasons, we have purchased 11 horses sired by these leading stallions. Although many are yet to hit the racetrack, those that have done so have repaid our faith. SPECIFIC CHOICE (Lonhro – Lady of Choice) has already won over $200,000 in prizemoney from just four starts, SECRET DELIGHT (Encosta De Lago – Divine Secret) is a multiple city winner and stakes placed from just five starts and MEDVEDEV (Commands – Rossiya) has already won two races for his connections from his five starts.
Commands' progeny continue to do the job for Dynamic
These figures don’t lie and play a major factor why we keep coming back to the leading sires. Already this year we purchased three filly’s at the Magic Millions sales on the Gold Coast. All rated well in pedigree rating scores and it little wonder that one is by FASTNET ROCK and another by ENCOSTA DE LAGO. The third is by boom first season sire MANHATTAN RAIN who happened to be by, that’s right you guessed it, ENCOSTA DE LAGO.
More information on these exceptionally bred filly’s will come to hand over the next few weeks however Dynamic are confident they will live up to their fathers’ lofty standards.
We also have limited share lefts in our ENCOSTA DE LAGO – PETTA GAYE and NORTHERN METEOR – VILLA VALENCIA colts which are due to start work with Chris Waller shortly. It is no surprise to see that NORTHERN METEOR who is among the leading first season sires this year is by champion sire ENCOSTA DE LAGO.
Dynamic aim to give all of our clients the best chance of race track success and with the hard work we put into our research, you can be assured that we have crossed every “t” and dotted every “I”. We look forward to watching this battle play out going forward in the 2012-13 season and can’t wait to see who is crowned this years’ champion. One thing is for sure, ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FASTNET ROCK, LONHRO and COMMANDS are sure to be right there come the business end of the season.
