Overseas connections are feeling more confident about having a crack at the
COX PLATE in late October after last year's sweeping victory by
ADELAIDE.
Among the 2015’s nominations for the great race is
current early market equal favourite AROD $9.00, whose connections are beginning to learn a thing or two about what's required to win the Moonee Valley feature.
David Redvers with Sheikh Fahad
Owned by Sheikh Fahad’s Qatar Bloodstock (managed by David Redvers), AROD boasts form for the COX PLATE that is right up there with some of the best in the world.
AROD
A winner of the Diomed Stakes at Epsom and the Summer Mile at Ascot this season, the son of Teofilo went close to toppling French star Solow in the Gr1 Sussex Stakes at his most recent start.
According to overseas reports, Redvers said, "I would say the Cox Plate is highly likely at this stage, with the other option being the Breeders' Cup Mile – but he can't do both.
“A lot of it will come down to what he manages to achieve in the northern hemisphere in the next six weeks.
“There are really only two Gr1 options left for him here and those are the Marois and the Moulin.
“While there has been no final decision, if he were to win one of those, I think he would definitely go to Australia."
This is in line with a recent interview in England that
Peter Chapple-Hyam
AROD’s Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam advised the Qatar Racing-owned AROD “is improving and Australia (Cox Plate) is the target for owner Sheikh Fahad.”
For our astute Dynamic Syndication Owners whom have already taken up 19 of the 20 shares on offer in the current syndication of our EXCEED AND EXCEL ex RED FEVER Filly, they will be heartened that AROD connections are looking at the MVRC WS Cox Plate or alternatively the Breeder’s Cup Mile.
AROD
AROD appears on the catalogue page pedigree of our filly.
However such is the depth of quality of the female family with 103 Stakes Horses in her pedigree, the problem for the stud book and catalogue producers has become - which Black Type horse’s do they drop out to make room for
AROD to appear into the page ?
Our filly’s 3rd Dam is ANNOCONNOR – the 3 time Gr1 winner and half-sister to AT TALAQ. She is also a half-sister to PATTIMACH - Dam of FAR LANE and Grand-dam of AROD.
So naturally it’s exciting for all owners of well-bred fillies, purchased as gilt-edged investments, to have an opportunity to have
a Cox Plate winner or a Breeder’s Cup Winner jump into the pedigree page and therefore add significant commercial value to the female family.
Opportunities and timing can be very rewarding in the thoroughbred industry.
We have just 1 x 5% share remaining in our EXCEED AND EXCEL ex RED FEVER Filly with GAI WATERHOUSE at $6,900 per share.
