Connections of DECROUX “take a bow” after the 4yo gelding (by Lope de Vega x Mimes) streaked away to win by
the Biggest Margin at any TAB Meetings around Australia on Saturday after posting an eased down
4.3 length winning margin to claim Race 5 at Kembla Grange, the
Marco Polo Aged Care Services Benchmark 68 Handicap over 1600m, running 1:37.88 which establishes a class record for Benchmark 68 level.
DECROUX winning with ease the over 1600m by 4.3 lengths
DECROUX is named after Étienne Decroux - a French actor and Mime artist who was a pioneer of, performed and taught Mime acting.
DECROUX certainly acted out what it takes to be a good racehorse when he let his actions do the talking, winning so easily by such a big margin.
RORY HUTCHINGS & DECROUX return to scale
Ridden by jet pilot Rory Hutchings, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained DECROUX looked brilliant in the pre-race parade and ran accordingly, carrying 60.0kgs and leading from start to finish.
Rory was riding to his instruction from Gai and went out to make a statement. That was achieved when stringing the field out of the best part of 20 lengths after the field had gone just 600m in the race.
The pace was so strong that Rory was able to give DECROUX a very soft sectional between the 800m to 600m before kicking again upon straightening and breaking the hearts of those chasing.
DECROUX kicks clear
Rory stole a look over his shoulder at the 200m and realised the race was won so he sat up in the saddle and allowed DEROUX to coast to the post to record the big 4.3 length result.
Already a winner at Warwick Farm, this was just the 7th career start for DECROUX.
He has taken his career to 7 Starts: 2 wins; 1 second; 1 third and $62,060 in prizemoney.
DECROUX had been working super for weeks leading into this race and was now third up from a spell and at the 1600m trip. With what he displayed, there seems little doubt that he should be able to add to his winning tally in future races.
