Having won Race 2 at Hawkesbury with
WEDGIE the day before,
today the Dynamic / Waterhouse/Bott Team were back in the Winner’s Circle yet again – this time at Warwick Farm with the very exciting 3yo gelding DECROUX (Lope de Vega x Mimes).
From the first day we put a saddle on this fellow, there was always something special about him.
However, being a big, strong and robust individual, his body couldn’t handle the early training and he kept finding his way back to the spelling farm.
A determined decision was made to have him up in time
to be heading into the Autumn Carnival and then it would be up to DECROUX to sink or swim and with what he had been showing us in training, we were keen to see how he progressed.
You can’t do anymore than win and that’s exactly what DECROUX did on Wednesday afternoon, over an unsuitable 1200m to a horse that is searching for 2400m.
DECROUX won Race 2 the CASINO PRINCE@VINERY 3yo Maiden Handicap.
He will improve so much with fitness and racecraft and the future looks bright if he can continue to take the next steps as he goes up in grade and as the distances increase.
Whilst a lot of water must go under the bridge, in particular he must continue to improve,
the Team at Gai Waterhouse Racing and Dynamic Syndications decided weeks a to nominate the gelding for the ATC Derby which closed last week ahead of The Championships.
So, today’s decision to run over 1200m, was just a step along the pathway to hopefully what could develop into a throw at the stumps at the 2400m event in 8 weeks’ time.
However,
in today’s event DECROUX lived up to his trackwork and barrier trials and Gai Waterhouse would not hear any talk that the horse wouldn’t win – she was right.
After scratching’s the field being dropped back to only 4 runners in 36-degree heat, it was a classy field and the form will be worth following.
DECROUX started $2.90 equal favourite with Touch of Mink $2.90 (2nd) and Pretentions Man $2.90 (3rd).
The plan was to sit in a forward position and if nothing wanted to lead then control the race but our preference would be to sit at the girth of the leader and follow.
As the gates flew back, DECROUX was a fraction slow, but quickly gathered himself up and worked to the lead with no pressure being applied by the other runners.
Pilot Tim Clark was giggling to himself as the first 600m went past at not much more than a working gallop and as the tempo increased approaching the turn, DECROUX stole a length with Touch Of Mink giving chase.
These two gapped the others and the race turned into a two-horse battle.
At the 200m, Tim got serious and let the brakes off and gave DECROUX his chance to stride away and in a blink the race was over.
DECROUX had beaten off the gallant runner-up and was allowed to roll to the line under his own steam.
Touch Of Mink has been placed 5 times in 8 runs including being Gr2 Placed and finishing 5th in a LR beaten 1 length, whilst Pretentious Man was solidly supported on debut having won a trial impressively including one bet of $30,000 at $3.00 which was reported by the TAB.
Congratulations to a very patient group of Dynamic Owners whose rewards have just started to become realised.

Importantly, it was our 37th Race Win for this 2017/18 Racing Season.
Another vital statistic is, this was Dynamic Syndications 13th Race Win during the first 6 weeks of the new 2018 Calendar Year.
Proudly, DECROUX became our 184th Individual Winner from 198th Individual Runners which equals 92.9% Winners : Runners.
