"WATT a Day" as our DYNAMIC DUO have both won at RANDWICK. Earlier we had won race 2 with DEFINE and that has been matched by the deeds of DREAM CHOICE who has dominantly won race 8.
Darren Smith has worked his magic yet again on another Dynamic Syndications runner, as one his latest relocated recruits from a city stable DREAM CHOICE has in four runs, turned around from being a handy provincial / mid week class horse, into firstly, smashing the Scone 1100m Course Record running 1:02.52 when lumping 60.5kgs then, he became a runner up in Saturday class at Rosehill over 1100m and now, he's a high quality Class Record Holder at Royal Randwick on a Saturday at 1200m.
Darren Smith only received DREAM CHOICE after the gelding had been trained in Sydney, recording a career of 22 starts: 3 - 4 - 2 and $110,385 and now has a record of 26: 5 - 5 - 2 and $184,535.
Darren has raced DREAM CHOICE on 4 occasions : 2 wins, 1 second and $74,150.
On Saturday at Randwick, DREAM CHOICE (Redoute's Choice / Patou) was backed in sensationally from his opening price of $8.00 on Wednesday afternoon to start $3.80 favourite and he didn't let his supports down.
DREAM CHOICE won the Royal Randwick Handicap Bm80 1200m, 3yo+ Colts Gelding and Entires. Ridden by Nash Rawiller he ran 1:10.01 (600m 34.64) establishing a Class Record.
It was a gem of a ride from Nash Rawiller and the horse was dominant in his victory. From barrier 5, the race on paper had 12 runners but appeared void of a lot of early speed. What speed was available, only appeared drawn inside us from Shelford and Fireball. DREAM CHOICE is a horse that doesn't like to be bustled early. He needs to be allowed in the first furlong to establish his rhythm and be comfortable before he travels on the bit however when we ask him to extend in the straight, he is now letting down with enthusiasm.
We had determined that if the speed map was accurate, we should land on the back of the first few, 2 pairs back, stalking the speed. Darren Smith asked Nash to keep Dream Choice relaxed and happy and be where the horse was comfortable.
From the time the gates opened, Nash was at his brilliant best and rode Dream Choice into the perfect position one out / two pairs back in fifth position. Dream Choice travelled beautifully, with his head bowed under no pressure to the turn.
Allowed to remained balanced around the bend, the field straightened for the run home. Shelford and Fireball sprinted off the front and kicked 3 lengths clear whilst Nash peeled Dream Choice out to the centre of the track in clear running and began to chase.
DREAM CHOICE dashed and despite giving the leaders a head start, both in distance and momentum, he began to reel in the leaders. Such was the speed in which he flashed home, Dream Choice caught the leaders with 25 metres to run and stormed pass them, to go on and win by a length on the line.
Nash and Dream Choice returned to warm rounds of applause. Darren Smith became our owners new hero, as a result of how he had improved Dream Choice into such a fine sprinter.
Nash reported to the owners that "he won the race with authority and there could be a better grade race for their horse in the coming weeks, such was the way he went so well".
It was terrific to have so many owners on hand to enjoy the win along with the Rawiller family as well. The scenes in the Winners Circle and Winning Owners Room were fabulous and emotional for many of our owners.
A big thanks goes to Nash for his smooth as silk ride to assist DREAM CHOICE achieve his well deserved win.
Congratulations to the team that race Dream Choice
