TICKLED PINK a 4yo mare by FASTNET ROCK ex PRETTY FLAMINGO (by More Than Ready).
She is a very valuable breeding prospect being a Grand-daughter of the
$5 million mare MILANOVA by Danehill.
Today’s win was very pleasing for all her owners.
At her 6th start she has broken through and now has a record of
6 starts: 1 win, 2 seconds, 1 third and $26,780.
She has had
4 runs this preparation since arriving in Brisbane from Sydney for her
Trainer CHRIS MUNCE and the mare has been honest and competitive in each event.
Having run
2nd at her first run for the stable at the Sunshine Coast, she then went to
Eagle Farm where she ran
2nd and then at her next start she ran
3rd at
Doomben.
Now she has franked that form by winning easily in a
$30,000 Showcase Maiden at Ballina on Ballina Cup Day.
Ironically the Ballina maiden was worth
$17,155 to the Winner whilst the Doomben and Eagle Farm maidens were worth only
$12,800 to the winner.
Even more on point about how wonderful racing is under the huge prizemoney announced in NSW was the fact that had this race been conducted in 21 day’s time, under the new massive lift in prizemoney announced this week by Racing NSW, maiden events at showcase meetings (such as this meeting at Ballina) they will receive
$22,875.
TICKLED PINK won Race 3, the
SMSF AUDITS 3YO & 4YO Maiden Plate 1300m, leading all the way to score eased down by 0.8 lengths x 2.3 lengths in 1:20.8 coming home in 36.10 secs starting a $2.30 Favourite, defeating Fashion Saga and Magnolia Vale.
Backed heavily in the market,
TICKLED PINK never gave her supports any reason for concern from the time they jumped with leading
rider Jeff Lloyd bounding straight to the front on the short priced favourite.
Match fit after 3 runs this preparation, Jeff allowed
TICKLED PINK to run along at a solid tempo spreading the field out over a dozen lengths at the half-way mark of the race.
As the field swung for home, Jeff asked the mare to extend and she dashed 3 lengths in front with the race well in her control by the 200m mark. At the 100m mark the margin was still 3 lengths and Jeff took the pressure away from the mare who relaxed in the run to the post.
Fashion Saga ran on well under hard riding but was never a winning threat and the margin back to the rest of the field was considerable.
Boasting such a highly desirable pedigree and being such a magnificent type, it was imperative that the mare became a winner for her residual value in the breeding barn post-racetrack retirement.
Dynamic Trainer CHRIS MUNCE being interviewed after the win
TICKLED PINK and CHRIS MUNCE have done a wonderful job and we are delighted by the result.
TICKLED PINK will have a short let-up now with the view of continuing her racing over the Christmas period in Brisbane.
