It’s been a great weekend for the DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS trainers with DAVID PAYNE, CHRIS WALLER, GERALD RYAN and PETER MOODY all experiencing positive results around the country at stakes level.
Unusually for Rosehill based trainer DAVID PAYNE, neither of his stakes successes came in Sydney with his winners coming in Melbourne and Canberra respectively. His first stakes winner came the way of consistent galloper, CENTENNIAL PARK. The multiple stakes winner and Gr1 placed galloper was ridden perfectly by Noel Callow in the LR Super Saturday Stakes at Flemington.
David Payne had two stakes winners over the weekend
The 7YO gelding scored by half a length in what was a well-deserved victory for galloper and trainer alike. CENTENNIAL PARK has been an outstanding money earner for his clients and took his record to 8 wins and 10 placings for $956,100 in earnings.
David’s second stakes winner of the weekend came during Canberra’s big meeting of the year when 2yo SEBRING colt, CRITERION won in fine style. CRITERION will now head towards next month's Golden Slipper after he finished over the top of his rivals in the Listed Black Opal Stakes (1200m).
PAYNE said CRITERION showed his ability with his third when resuming in the Listed Canonbury Stakes but the addition of blinkers played it part in his improvement.
"We put the blinkers on him and that helped but there is plenty more improvement left in him," Payne told Sky Racing World.
"I have always said this is my best Slipper runner so I hope I'm right and that will be his goal. I think he had such a hard run. He made a long run but in the Slipper if he draws well and he gets a bit of cover, he'll be way better."
We congratulate David on a very successful weekend and wish him all the best of luck with CRITERION in the upcoming Golden Slipper.
DAVID PAYNE was not the only one of the DYNAMIC trainers to taste success over the weekend as CHRIS WALLER had a Sydney double including the Gr1 CHIPPING NORTON stakes. Chris’ good day started when UK import LUNAYIR saluted at big odds in a BM87 and showed he could be a big player over the Autumn carnival. However, it was the performance of SHOOT OUT that was most impressive of all the WALLER runners this weekend. The 6yo HIGH CHAPARRAL gelding took out the Gr1 CHIPPING NORTON which brought his total earnings to $3,178,950 with 10 wins and 10 placings from 33 starts.
Chris Waller won the Gr1 Chipping Norton with Shoot Out
Since arriving at the stables of CHRIS WALLER, SHOOT OUT has won three individual Gr1s and been placed a further four times at stakes level from just nine starts. This is a phenomenal training performance from Chris and we wish him all the best of luck throughout the carnival.
GERALD RYAN also tasted stakes success on the weekend while PETER MOODY’s galloper MOMENT OF CHANGE finished a close up second in the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap also at Flemington. As the Melbourne Festival of Races winds up and the Sydney Autumn carnival takes centre stage, we wish the best of luck to all of our trainers. We congratulate DAVID PAYNE, CHRIS WALLER, PETER MOODY and GERALD EYAN on their weekends and look forward to seeing them in the winner’s circle again shortly.
