A rising average and median price and a strong 84% clearance rate were the statistical results of strong trade on the opening day of the 2014 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale Summer Book at Newmarket Sydney.
Following on from a strong increase in all areas on the Gold Coast, the trend continued with buyers acknowledging the strength of the Australian economy and the world-wide bloodstock markets. Buyer confidence is back and the industry is healthy.
Dynamic Syndications were active twice, early and late on Day 1.
We struck in the opening minutes securing
Lot 2,
a strong colt by highly successful NZ domiciled stallion
PINS x YOU TOO for $25,000 + GST.
Then late in the day, we were always intent on buying
Lot 214 from the time we saw her. She was a spectacular filly by
AD VALOREM x IMPOSED - a
3/4 Sister-in-Blood to REWARD FOR EFFORT (Gr1 Blue Diamond) and she's closely related to OVERREACH (Gr1 Golden Slipper). We grabbed her for a bargain price of just $37,000 + GST.
Both yearlings survived a complex regime of 3 inspection rounds and a veterinary examination prior to being passed on x-rays. Naturally both horses rated highly on genetic evaluations with both scoring in the Best Of Sale category.
Local, interstate and overseas buyers took home 189 lots on Day 1, headed by :
* Lot 172 Not A Single Doubt x Foxy filly From Middlebrook Valley Stud for $105,000.
Whilst three colts also made $100,000. They were:
* Lot 26 – Street Sense x Angora colt from Princes Farm
* Lot 39 – Teofilo x Ave Amina colt from Supreme Thoroughbreds
* Lot 84 – Myboycharlie x Centaine Haze colt from Vinery Stud
“Strong athletic types again drew plenty of competition and I have no doubt that many of today’s buys will outperform their price tags, as has become a great hallmark of Classic,” said Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.
Local buyers had plenty of competition from interstate and overseas. International buyers were also active on the day from New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and South Africa.
The average price on Day One was up 6% on last year’s figure to $34,804. The median was a strong $30,000.
Our two buys were $25,000 & $37,000 which is an average of $31,000.
240 remaining yearlings (Lots 241 to 480) will be offered from the earlier starting time of 10am Monday 20 January.
Day Two will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live. We will be back in the marketplace on Day 2 looking to add another quality yearling to the Dynamic stables should opportunities present themselves.
