Dynamic Syndications
is delighted to announce that
Bart and James Cummings Racing Partnership
have joined forced with us and become Dynamic in 2014.
JAMES & BART CUMMINGS - TRAINING PARTNERSHIP
A surname synonymous with racing, the
Cummings
name has left a hoof print on our industry that is unlikely to ever be replicated.
With a lifetime of knowledge and experience,
Cummings Racing
offers our a new dimension to our business and offers clients the chance to experience a training environment at
Leilani Lodge
on High Street
Randwick
that has produced some of the nation’s top horses over many decades.
Bart Cummings
In 1953, the now
legendary Bart Cummings
was granted his trainer’s licence at the age of 26 and in 1958 he won his first Gr 1 race, the
SAJC Derby with Stormy Passage
. From this point on, Bart’s training feats re-wrote Australian Racing History. In 1965,
Light Fingers
won Bart his first
Melbourne Cup
.
He achieved his first Training Premiership in 1965-66. In this year, he won the 7 Group 1 Cups across Australia: Melbourne, Caulfield, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sandown and Queens Cup.
His success however, was not limited to these prestigious stayer’s championships. During the
1974-75 racing season, Bart trained 10 different racehorses to win 20 Group 1 races.
The honour role for that season included the likes of
Leilani, Think Big
and
Lord Dudle
y.
The stable has produced champions that have won
4 Golden Slippers, 32 Derbies, 5 Cox Plates, 24 Oaks and 7 Caulfield Cups.
No other trainer has succeeded in this kind of success so far.
Bart has earned the title of the
“Cups King”
. He has achieved
266 Gr 1 victories,
more than
758 black type stakes victories
and he has won the
‘Race that Stops a Nation’ 12 times
.
James Cummings:
James Alexander Cummings is the
fourth generation of the Cummings dynasty
to enter the racing industry. Born and raised in Sydney, James attended St Joseph’s College at Hunters Hill.
At the age of 13, James began working as a stable hand for his father, Anthony. During this time, he learned the hard work and dedication that is required to be successful in the industry. At 18, he began to study a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Sydney. As he sat in lectures and tutorials, it became apparent to James that he had an insatiable desire to pursue a career in horse racing. Reading form guides instead of course curriculum was indicative enough that James had racing in his blood. From this time on he pursued a full-time career in the racing industry.
To broaden his knowledge of horses and explore his passion, James relocated to the heart of the breeding industry and worked for Patinack Farm where he worked in the sale of stallion nominations and also got hands on experience with the horses in the stallion barns.
Following this, in late 2006, James returned to his father’s stable in a managerial position as a junior foreman.
In August 2009, the request came from his grand-father Bart for James to fill the position of Foreman at Leilani Lodge, Randwick.
At the age of 21, James was the youngest person ever to be given such a position by Bart, aside from James own father Anthony. Although thrown in the deep end, he took on the opportunity- eager to learn from the master trainer and ready for the challenge.
During James’s years as Bart’s foreman, the honour roll includes the almighty
So You Think, Dariana, Faint Perfume, Empress Rock, Rock Classic, Allez Wonder, Precedence, Roman Emperor and Norzita.
The 2012-13 racing season proved to be a highlight for Bart Cummings with James as his foreman, as the stable hit the lead in the most number of Group 1 winners trained with 265 successes.
In July 2013, at the age of 25, James was granted his Racing NSW metropolitan trainer’s licence.
After 4 years of being under the watchful eyes of his accomplished grandfather, Bart acknowledged James’s readiness to be a successful trainer in his own right. So Bart and James entered into a training partnership commencing on 1st August 2013.
The partnership has had a solid start to its first racing season. Currently sitting on
36 wins Australia wide with earnings of $2,187,000.
Included amongst this are
17 Sydney Winners
whilst they have also recorded
118.5 placing’s
to date. Importantly the Bart and James Cummings Racing Stables have won
6 Stakes Races
this season with:
HALLOWED CROWN, PRECEDENCE, EUROZONE and SHAMALIA.
James has been empowered with the knowledge, skills and understanding of racehorses from his tutors in grand-father Bart and father Anthony. His intelligence and adaptability will ensure achievements of great heights well beyond expectation.
Bart and James Cummings Racing partnership brings together a potent mix of experience, wisdom and youthful exuberance, attributes that we feel are key for our clients to enjoy racetrack success.
There is one other important synergy between our operations.
Bart Cummings and Dean Watt
are the
ONLY 2
industry participants to have won the
BIG 3 2yo Races in Australia
– Golden Slipper - Blue Diamond and Magic Millions.
Dynamic Syndications boss Dean Watt
enjoys winning the classic races too, however there is one race that has eluded his resume for which he has a burning ambition to win - a
DERBY
.
Dean has won an
OAKS
and come close on several occasions to win a Derby when running
2nd with Savabeel in the 2004 VRC Derby, 2nd with De Beers in the 2006 AJC Derby, 3rd with Set Up in the 2004 Queensland Derby and 4th with He’s No Pie Eater in the 2007 AJC Derby.
