Racing on Saturday in Melbourne was conducted at Sandown on the Hillside Track and the opening event went to Dynamic Syndications exciting debutant, the 2yo filly MORE FOR ME.
MORE FOR ME Winning on debut
Purchased for $110,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sales in 2013, the beautifully bred daughter of Champion Sire MORE THAN READY is from LANGNESS - a Stakes Winning daughter of Danehill.
MORE FOR ME - as a Yearling
Offered by Glastonbury Stud as agent, the filly is bred in the purple. Her dam LANGNESS was a HIGH QUALITY racehorse. Winner at 1050m of the SAJC Australian Hotels Association SA Stakes LR, and placed in Melbourne and Ellersllie (NZ), this filly didn't receive her true racetrack recognition. LANGNESS was also first past the post in the Blue Diamond Prelude Gr3 but the race was subsequently abandoned when the starting gates malfunctioned for a couple of runners and the Stewards declared a non-race.
LANGNESS
It was no wonder Langness was as good as she was, being a daughter of the immortal Champion Sire DANEHILL certainly helped however much of her ability may have been passed on by her dam - that was none other than the AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPION 3yo – ISCA (by Rory’s Jester).
ISCA - Champion 3yo
So with her grand-dam being ISCA and her dam being LANGNESS, there is little wonder our filly MORE FOR ME is showing her master trainer PETER MOODY plenty of ability and that she appears to have inherited much of the genetic ability of her famous grand-mother and mother.
To see how tractable the 2yo debutant was, is a credit to a top team that have worked with the filly since we purchased her as a yearling. Broken-in and educated to perfection by Shane Rose at Bimbdeen Park, then the Team at Wild Oaks did a terrific job with early foundation work. Peter Moody and his team polished her early and we thought she had plenty of ability but a virus saw her head to the paddock before the Blue Diamond race.
This preparation she has been working well and had a couple of good jump outs including one against the older horses where she performed very well and then on the Tuesday leading into the race, the work was first class and according to the Sportsman newspaper the best of the morning over 800m.
However, we still thought being a debutant and the only girl in a field of 11 runners, meant we needed to be at the top of our game and to prove to be very tractable and not do anything wrong and still, we needed a lot of luck !
Despite the late surge from the $2.50 fav Husson Eagle, our filly easily held him off.
MORE FOR ME - A BIG JOB - The only Filly in the 11 horse field Wins on Debut
Nothing was going to get past our Peter Moody trained debutant filly More For Me, as she won the Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap Open 2yo (1000m) at Sandown Hillside track and banked $48,000 for our team of owners. Time: 0:58.93 (0:35.14) (600m) the track was down graded after this race to a Dead 4.
Our two-year-old daughter of More Than Ready showed tremendous spirit to hold out the fast finishing Husson Eagle by a short neck, with the colt Bondeiger a further 1/2 length away third.
"We came here today quietly confident and she does a lot right at home, so it was a good start to the day,” Moody’s stable representative Zac I’Anson told TVN.
"We are hoping she will progress through her grades nicely at this stage, but the boss might have plans for Brisbane or Adelaide,” he said.
Whilst Sydney's BOBS bonuses are attractive, as is the upcoming Scone carnival. We have plenty of options depending upon how she pulls up.
Aided by an 11 out of 10 ride by Linda Meech, all jockeys should get a copy of this video and watch how the job was done to perfection.
"She’s well put together, she's got a good backside on her and has a lot of power, all credit to her, she dug in deep and fought the other horse off,” Linda Meech said.
"I was confident that my filly would find something at the finish and that's how it panned out" she said.
"there is considerable upside to this filly for her big group of owners – they’re going to have some fun" Linda added.
The beaten favourite Husson Eagle, had no excuses, he was given an uninterrupted passage but that horse peaked on its run and simply, he was not as good as our filly on the day.
The market: More For Me firmed from $15 into $10.50, Husson Eagle firmed from $3.00 to $2.10 and Bondeiger eased from $15 out to $21.
The filly has since pulled up very well. The stable’s vet commented on Monday that you wouldn’t know that she had raced. She’s come through the tough first up assignment.
Peter Moody commented “it was a great result from the filly to take to racing so well on debut and bring up a narrow but impressive win. It was not only very pleasing to see the motor, but also to see the attitude of wanting to win when pressed and feel we are going to have plenty of enjoyment from this filly in the next few seasons.
She will have a quiet few days in the stable and give her every chance to get through to another race, wherever that may be in two to three week’s time.
We have two races on our radar at this early stage for her next assignment. In Adelaide on 10/5 is the Darley National, a 1200m Listed Race at SW against the boys or alternatively on 17/5 over the Scone Cup Carnival, there is the Woodlands Stakes 1100m – a Quality Handicap Listed Race for 2yo Fillies. A decision which way we head won’t be made for a while yet as we monitor her progress after her next couple of fast work gallops.
A big Congratulations to our Dynamic Team of owners who race this filly with us and it was great to see so many happy owners on TV in the winner’s circle after the race:
