On Wednesday morning
Dynamic Syndications boss Dean Watt went inspecting a
different type of horsepower when as an invited guest of
“The Stables - Sydney” he went to a Track Day at Eastern Creek.
At
Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, Dynamic Dean was treated to
an adrenaline day of a lifetime. The day was designed to suit
novices to full-on rev-heads alike.
Having left by chartered bus from the stables at Randwick at 6:30am, we arrived at the Eastern Creek venue of
“THE FORMULA COMPANY” at 7:30 am, where we were kitted out in racing overalls, gloves, balaclava and racing helmet.
Professional Racing Drivers were on hand to discuss the intimacies of the fully kitted
RADICAL 3 race cars. This is the real deal and
the closest thing to driving a Formula 1 racing car in Australia.
The SR3 RS is powered by a Suzuki Hayabusa sourced 220bhp 1340cc Powertec four-cylinder engine which revs to a blistering 10,500rpm.
It runs a six-speed sequential transmission that you operate with a gear lever and clutch delivering seamless power through the specially designed Dunlop slick tyres.
The combination of sticky tyres and high down-force from the aerodynamics provides so much grip that it will redefine what you think a car can do!
With numbers like
0-100 kph in 3 seconds and 2.5g's through corners and under brakes, it's as fast a V8 Supercar around Sydney Motorsport Park.
These Radicals are fitted with the latest helmet-to-helmet communications technology so you were in constant contact with your instructor.
After our professional tutorials, it was
race time !
Each guest was given three stints in the car. Two x 20 minutes track driving sessions and a final two HOT LAPS by the pro-driver.
The first was a 20 minute session where we were taken through the circuit, identifying the various zones and racing line. After a few laps, it was time to give the car a squeeze and see how she performed.
It was both exhilarating and frightening for a novice to feel the power and responsiveness of the car whilst being encouraged by
professional motor sport driver Andrew Winton.
After a break, it was time to head back into the car for our second 20 minute session and give it a squirt against the clock.
Wow what an experience !
Words failed Dean as the faster the car went, the better it handled. Only inches off the asphalt, with warm engine and slick tyres, the car screamed around the track.
Alas – the boss thought he was going fast, yet some of the pro-competitors overtook him as if he was standing still. In his own mind he thought he was as fast as
Daniel Riccardo but factually - he was driving more like a
Nanna !
The experience was awesome – It got the juices flowing. The heart was pumping through the chest and it was hard work keeping this wonderful machine on its racing lines.
After the session finished
the boss couldn’t wipe the smile off his face – that same smile he gets when he wins a major race.
After a short break it was
“HOT LAP” time.
Andrew Winton took the controls whilst Dean was strapped in to the passenger side. The pit crew had Dean in as tight as possible and then placed his hand on the roll cage and told him to
“hang-on”.
It was an OMG moment. The car screamed around the track being pushed to its absolute limits. The boss was terrified and exhilarated at the same time.
Dean has always lived by the saying
“Every man to his trade.” The difference between the boss pushing the car around and then
Andrew Winton pushing the car around was as stark as
chalk and cheese.
Dean Watt & Andrew Winton
Dynamic Dean had a new found appreciation for the motor sport drivers and their incredible skill set that they can push cars around the circuit at incredible speed with inch perfect judgement.
After the session expired, the team of 16 guests that were on hand courtesy of “The Stables – Sydney” all were of the same view. It was sensational !
Dynamic Syndications wish to take this opportunity to
fully recommend to our clients and friends this experience offered by
“THE FORMULA COMPANY.” If you get the opportunity to send a car around
– Do It !
You will never forget the
Radical Race Car experience and can you can relive it anytime because they supply you with your own on board footage recorded on a HD camera.
As for “The Stables – Sydney” there is nothing better !
It’s the place to be.
