Team Dynamic and our Newcastle based trainer extraordinaire JASON DEAMER were back in the Winner’s Circle on Tuesday at Hawkesbury, when our well-bred 4yo mare JUST IN TIME resumed from a spell to claim Race 5, the FOWLER CIVIL CONTRACTING Midway Class 1 Hcp (1300m), banking $21,000 to the winner and taking her overall record to 7 starts: 2-0-1 and $68,225 prizemoney.
JUST IN TIME (by JUSTIFY (USA) from PICKIN' TIME) was having her first start since being transferred to Jason Deamer and her ownership team have been well rewarded with an easy watch as JUST IN TIME cruised to victory under the sweet hands of leading jockey Tommy Berry.
On a Soft 5 surface, JUST IN TIME gave nothing else a chance in the field of 9 runners, clocking 1:17.60 for the 1300m trip when sizzling home on a winter track in Last 600m of 32.74 secs.

JUST IN TIME ($4.20) a 4yo mare (Jason Deamer / Tommy Berry) 58.0kgs, barrier 4, defeated Tessy Tee ($4.20) (3yo filly), 56.5kgs, barrier 5, by 1.64 lengths with third place to Hazel Jean ($6.0) (3yo filly) 55.0kgs, barrier 6, 1.87 lengths from the winner. $2.45 favourite Queen’s Rhapsody, (3yo filly), 56.0kgs finished a fading fifth 4.18 lengths away.
Tommy Berry showed his wonderful horsemanship and ability to read a race, with an experienced ride taking bad luck out of the equations and giving nothing else a chance, with a comfortable ride in very slick closing sectionals.
Jumping away cleanly from gate 4, Tommy punched forward early as 2yo filly Nothing But Net pushed hard to hold the fence, whilst Tessy Tee came across to make a line of 3 upfront. Tommy made Tessy Tee spend early petrol to cross us and then Tommy dropped his hands on JUST IN TIME, and our mare relaxed beautifully.
It was here that the leaders dropped anchor and peeled off three slow mid-race sectionals, turning the race into a sit and sprint affair.
Coming down the side of the track approaching the 600m Tommy was alert to the slow sectionals and angled our mare three-deep to roll up to the girth of the runner-up who was eyeballing the leader.
As the field thundered into the home turn and straightened for the run home, Tommy kept our mare in a rhythm, and then let the brakes off JUST IN TIME at the 300m and she responded, quickly running past the two upfront as the whistled by the 200m.
Tommy then urged our mare to extend and she gapped her peers between the 200m to the 100m and then Tommy sat up and looked stylish as the Dynamic Duo cantered over the line.
Job Done!
The racecaller version was: “500 metres left to go. They start to sprint now, and the leader is Nothing But Net up to the point of the turn, on the outside Tessie Tee in second, then Just In Time, Chicalote just behind them, Yes Siree, here’s Queens Rhapsody starting to let down on the outside still 3 or 4 off the lead. 220m left to go the leader Tessy Tee, Just In Time throws down a good challenge and Just In Time went on by, then Tessy Tee, then Queens Rhapsody, Hazel Jean from the back runs on, but it's Just In Time with 50 metres to go. Just In Time “too good” beat Tessy Tee, the fast-finishing Hazel Jean. Then came Yes Sir Ree, followed by Queens Rhapsody, then came Nothing But Net.
Richard Callendar on Sky Central reviewed the race: “The very well backed runner, number 4 Just In Time. Jason Deamer and Tommy Berry. Very, very well backed, and it gets the money number 4 Just In Time - most impressive! A length and a half by a half neck. They have zipped home in 32.70”
“Jason Deamer gets the winner here in the Dynamics Syndications colours well done to their team, they moved her out from Ciaron Maher to easier targets there with Jason Deamer, and Jason is going to come up for a chat and hopefully will have a little chat here about Just In Time, as Jason comes up; when Tommy said let's go and pushed the button she dashed real quick!”
Jason answered: “Yeah sure. She started her career with Richard and Will Freedman and I remember when she had her first start at Newcastle for them, they had quite and opinion of her and she won well and they had big plans, but obviously things didn’t turn out so well, and she came to me in great order from Ciaron Maher’s stable, and we just gave her the one trial. She is probably a bit on the fresh side and Tommy had her in a lovely position and just peeled her out and she had that bit of a dash and keep grinding to the line; very good.”
Richard added: “A little bit depth to the race, might be a few wins instore for her?”
Jason agreed: “Yeah hopefully. It’s always good to get another winner for Dynamic Syndications. They give me huge support and move their horses around to where they think they're better suited and things work out well. Thanks mate.”
Richard continued: “There he is Jason Deamer and Tommy Berry the winning a rider gets the money. A length and a half a half neck $4.00 and $1.60. Tommy, now over chat and I just was saying to Jason, 32.74 when you let her rip – she ripped!”

Tommy responded: “Yeah, she did. They went a very sedate tempo in the early stages. And that's why. When I got down the side of the track, I just popped her three wide to get into a better rhythm because she's got such a big action.
And she just improved really well up into the straight and sprinted home quite nicely. So, she's always been a nice filly they have had time for. I think she's a bit stronger this preparation, and we will get to see her go through her grades.”
Richard then said: “They were not going that quick in front. So, you were just a matter of loafing along?”
Tommy said: “Yeah, exactly. It was always going to be hard for the backmarkers to pick us up, so I would've been disappointed to get back there.”
Richard concluded: “There he is Tommy Berry. He’s getting a little bit of support over the fence Tommy Berry, and why wouldn't he? He rode it a peach and got the money on Just In Time for Jason Deamer and the Dynamic Team.”
