Firstly, we welcomed a New Training Partnership to Dynamic Syndications. We're delight to have the team of
PETER & PAUL SNOWDEN as part of Team Dynamic. To mark the special association between both of us, Dynamic Syndications gave the new boys our first purchase of 2014.
Next we are delighted to report that we secured 4 fabulous fillies to offer to our clients.
The Day In Review:
A terrific days trading if you were a vendor (but very hard work if you were a buyer) proved to be the eventual wash up of Day 1 at the Magic Millions Sales on the Gold Coast.
As predicted, Day 1 closed on an upswing with an average of $141,606, up almost $13,000 (5%) on last years figures. The median was up a staggering $25,000 to $130,000 and most importantly, the clearance rate was a whopping 80% with 137 lots finding new homes. However the encouraging aspect of this data is there is no standout lot with the top price of only $450,000 achieved twice.
The median prices seemed inflated based mainly upon what was obvious for all to see who were in attendance at the selling auditorium. Two dominant and feuding personalities were colliding head to head, in what at times seemed just a war of attrition. Commercial realities and common sense apparently were neglected on many lots, as prices skyrocketed in heated head to head battles for dominance.
With as many vendors giggling to themselves as there were professional buyers laughing aloud at what was unfolding, the theatre of this spectacle kept most of us amused or shaking our heads in disbelief.
However the folly of such drama is that, unsuspecting potential owners of many of these horses (the resultant spoils of these determined and often illogical battles), in the near future will be asked to pay inflated share prices which were spiralled unnecessarily out of control.
Ultimately though, there remained good buying, if due diligence homework had been done.
Team Dynamic had been pounding the pavement at the saleyards since the 2nd January having already put in weeks of work prior analysing pedigrees. Our 6 days of hard work in varying environments from saturating high humidity or 40 degree heat or gale force winds, paid off spectacularly and the beneficiaries will be our clients, who will be able to purchase from us, high quality thoroughbreds at excellent value for money.
We secured 4 of the best fillies at the sale, yet only had to spend $320,000 in doing so. That is not just marketing jargon, that is the opinion of our independent bloodstock advisor
Gary Mudgway and one of Australia's finest veterinarians,
Dr John Walker. We had 16 yearlings marked on our buying list for Day 1 and we could not be anymore thrilled than we where when we sat down at the close of the first selling day. Whilst we missed out on 12 lots that had reached artificially inflated prices, we simply will not chase the market. We will wait and watch and pick up outstanding value for money.
We have added the following 4 fillies to our stables :

This filly was offered by
Baramul Stud and Dynamic was the leading bidder in the salering at $90,000 when the mare as passed-in with a reserve of $100,000. We went and spoke to the vendor Gerry Harvey, who is a good friend to Team Dynamic and he races several horses with Dynamic Syndications in partnership. Gerry agreed to sell the horse to Team Dynamic at $90,000 + GST on the condition that, (because he liked the filly so much) we sold him 20% back into the filly, which we immediately agreed. Then our own bloodstock expert Garry Mudgway took a 5% share as well, such is the high quality of this filly.
Our filly has been given to Leading Trainer Peter Moody (common sense, since he trained the dam so successfully).

PURCHASE 3
Lot 160 : $65,000 + GST from Banchory Thoroughbreds
BOBS Eligible
Having swung and missed on several horses after lot 26, we finally broke through for a sensational buy. We were able to secure Lot 160, a super filly by exciting first crop sire
STARSPANGLEDBANNER.
Anybody with an interest in racing remembers this superstar sprinter. Standing at a service fee of $44,000 last season, unfortunately this sire suffers from poor fertility issues and there are not many of his progeny available. He only has 30 live foals from his first season at stud where he covered 104 broodmares.
As a racehorse he was brilliant. He was Champion Sprinter in Europe, GB & Ireland in 2010. Champion Sprinter in Australia in 2009-10 & Champion Aust-Bred International Sprinter in 2009-10. He won 7 races - 1 at 2 - from 1000m to 1600m, $2,322,594 in Newmarket July Cup Gr1, MRC Oakleigh Plate Gr1, Caulfield Guineas Gr1, HDF McNeil S. Gr3, Vain S. LR, MVRC Inglis Juvenile P. etc. So naturally investors can identify with us and understand why we are so happy to have such a quality filly by the sire.
From the mare
VAZIRI (by Oratorio). She is a 3/4 sister to Stakes Winner and Gr1 placed
DANASIA (dam of Gr1 winner
ZABRASIVE). Whilst the mare's 2nd Dam is the multipe Stakes Winner
LADY OF PERSIA. This is the immediate family of Gr1 winner
CHEEKY CHOICE and recent Stakes Winner in NZ
JACKOFALL.
This filly has been given to Champion Trainer
Chris Waller

This filly achieved a Best Of Sale rating and an overall score A 222%
PURCHASE 4
Lot 169 : $40,000 + GST from Montana Park
SUPER VOBIS qualified

Our final purchase on Day 1 was a wonderful filly by exciting first crop sire
REWARD FOR EFFORT. It's well known that Dynamic Syndications purchased REWARD FOR EFFORT at the yearling sales in Melbourne to see him go on and become a superstar racehorse winning 4 races from just a hand full of starts including the Blue Diamond S. Gr1 and Blue Diamond Preview LR, (at 2), WFA Sir John Monash S. LR (at 3 - his only start) and the STC Concorde S Gr3 (at 4).
Naturally we were keen to buy the best REWARD FOR EFFORT yearlings we can find this year and we certainly believe we have achieved a flying start with this stunning filly.
From the mare
