The Australian Turf Club launched its spring carnival at Randwick on Thursday, announcing the ambassadors who include
Gai Waterhouse's daughter, social columnist Kate and her husband, former rugby league player
Luke Ricketson.
Also current South Sydney NRL players
Tom and George Burgess will play a role, along with actress
Anna Bamford and Channel V host
Carissa Walford.
However it was, as usual,
Gai Waterhouse who took centre stage, talking up the fashion and social element of racing but more importantly, the main event.
"It's great to see so many younger people getting involved," Waterhouse said.
"And it's wonderful to see the prizemoney increases with a million dollars for the Epsom and other increases for races such as the Gimcrack and Breeders Plate for the two-year-olds.
"I've got one (2yo) called Kiss And Make Up, for guess who - Singo.
One particular Dynamic Syndications 2yo filly has caught the eye of the Lady Trainer.
UNMISTAKABLE
UNMISTAKABLE (2yo f. Not A Single Doubt x Cloudygaze) has been
impressing Gai and her team as she goes about her training with a minimum of fuss and has shown enough ability to suggest she may trial very well later this month.
UNMISTAKABLE has been written up in Gai’s trackwork reports and the track riders and jockey’s believe she has what it takes to make an impression early.
Other Dynamic Syndications 2yo’s that GAI has been upbeat about include
I AM SPECIAL (2yo f. I Am Invincible x Special Mention) and
PUB GRUB (2yo c. Snitzel x Huiskes). Whilst the
UNNAMED 2yo f., Exceed And Excel x Red Fever filly has the team upbeat about her future.
There is nothing better than Spring Carnival Racing with the excitement of the 2yo’s commencing a new batch of future champions, mixing with CLASSIC, CUP and PLATE Contenders its utopia for any red blooded racing enthusiast.
