It was a big pay day for the connections of three-year-old Specific Choice in Sydney on Saturday, with the colt collecting $168,750 for winning the Inglis Find Your Next Racehorse Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill.
Specific Choice ($65,000 2011 Easter, 3c Lonhro-Lady Of Choice) was given a great ride by jockey Hugh Bowman who had the Dynamic Syndications galloper bowling along up front before kicking clear in the straight and holding off Tigress Baby and Chez Harmony in the run to the line.
Trainer Chris Waller targeted the race because it carried a $100,000 Inglis Bonus for horses that were offered at an Inglis Select Yearling Sale and paid up into the lucrative Inglis Race Series, as Specific Choice was.
"He gets $48,000 for winning, another $20,000 BOBS bonus plus the $100,000 Inglis bonus so that's a great result, as he was going to an 1850 metre race at Newcastle next week,” Waller said.
Bred by Huntworth Stud, Mr.P.Stewart, Ms.B.Woodford-Smith & Mr A.Burt, Specific Choice (pictured) was a $65,000 purchase by Dean Watt's Dynamic Syndications from the draft of Huntworth Stud at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
The three year-old is a half-brother to Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Direct Charge being from Lady of Choice.
From just four starts Specific Choice has earned over $200,000 in prizemoney and bonuses for his lucky owners; Dynamic Syndications Racing Synd, R Stojkovski, D S Chow, P R Samios, Miss A J Hayes, Weston Creek Racing Synd, Howrushun Synd, Whitton Duke Racing Synd, Dynamic Syndications No 15 Synd & Dynamic Syndications No 16 Synd.
"Early on we thought he would be a Rosehill Guineas type of horse,” added Waller "we want him to have a decent spell and I'm not going to rush that just to get him back for the early autumn.
"He is a big free-going horse, a typical Lonhro, and time will tell how far he goes.”
The next $100,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus will be on a three-year-old Benchmark 72 Handicap over 1500m at Moonee Valley on December 14.
Two-year-olds next event in the series comes up on Villiers Day at Warwick Farm on December 22, where eligible horses will be able to compete for $250,000 on the Restricted Listed Inglis Nursery over 1000m.
