Having waited a day and a half to buy Lot 579 it was only a matter of 11 lots later that we purchased our final target of the
2015 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and interestingly, our only colt from the sale.
He was
Lot 589 a half-brother to
three time Gr1 Winner of 12 races and $1,446, 725 –

TYCOON JOY’s progeny have averaged $193,000.
On our Genetic Rating Scores, it identified this colt to be the Top Rated Colt in the Sale with a massive score of A+++
and a Best Of Sale Rating of 3.0.
Only one horse rated higher in this catalogue. That was a filly by Fastnet Rock with a score of A+++ and a Best Of Sale rating of 3.5. However that filly was poorly conformed with exceptionally offset knees and bad rotations inwards (pigeon toed). On its poor conformation it would be highly unlikely to remain sound to get to the races. So we crossed that filly off the list.
Therefore we know we secured the Best Colt on Genetic Rating with the athleticism, size and strength to go with his wonderful pedigree.
More importantly he was the highest rated on genetics of the colts and the highest rated in the sale based upon soundness.
Our contracted veterinarian Dr. John Walker gave the colt a clear x-ray report and passed upon physical conformation and endoscopic evaluation.
Therefore he is by a Champion Sire, he’s a half-brother to a three time Gr1 winner of 12 races from the immediate family Gr1 winner and Champion Sire THORN PARK.
Importantly he is both BOBS and VOBIS eligible and paid up for the Inglis Race Series.
To buy him for $100,000 + GST was superb and we are excited about his future.
